Coomera Lodge Hotel’s new cabins are ready for check-in.

There are staycays, and then there are staycays that come with dinner, drinks and zero need to call an Uber. Coomera Lodge Hotel has officially entered its accommodation era, with the launch of its brand-new Coomera Cabins bringing an easy-breezy new way to stay and play on the northern Gold Coast.

Made for spontaneous weekends, theme park adventures, family getaways and nights that deserve to roll into a sleepover, the cabins put you right where you want to be. Close to the action, close to the pub and close to that glorious moment when you realise the journey home is just a short wander away.

Picture neatly lined modern cabins with warm wooden accents and a coastal aesthetic that makes them feel like a boutique escape. Inside, it’s all about spacious, comfy living, with car parks right out front of the cabins, so unpacking the car feels refreshingly fuss-free.

Location-wise, they’ve nailed the sweet spot, just a stone’s throw from the theme parks, but surrounded by enough greenery to forget you’re 15 minutes from a rollercoaster. You’ve got plenty of gorgeous park areas surrounding you to lay down a rug for the day, or you can take a stroll by the Coomera River. It’s arguably the best home base for those after adventures by day and a laidback staycay by night.

There are two cabin styles to choose from. First up, the Family Cabin, aka the crowd pleaser. One queen bed plus a bunk (two singles), so everyone’s got their own space. It comes with a private ensuite, air-con for those classic Gold Coast humidity days, a TV for winding down, and free wifi. Sleeps four, so it’s ideal for families and groups alike.

Then there’s the Accessible Cabin – DDA-compliant, no access stairs, and genuinely spacious. This one comes with a queen bed, a bunk (two more singles), and a sofa that extends into a queen, comfortably sleeping six. Same deal on the private ensuite, TV, air-con and free wifi. Handy for bigger groups, multi-generational trips, or anyone who just wants a bit of extra room to breathe.

Best part? You’re a short stroll from the Coomera Lodge Hotel itself, so post check-in, it’s a very short commute to a cold drink and a feed. No taxis, no designated driver dramas- just wander over, wander back. And it’s not just a cold pint waiting for you over there.

The pub side of things is genuinely stacked with live sports galore from NRL, NBL, Rugby Union, Rugby League and UFC all on the big screens, plus weekly food and drink specials to match. There’s live music to keep the night going, karaoke Saturdays for anyone feeling brave, and trivia and bingo nights for those who’d rather flex the brain instead of their vocal cords. Got the kids in tow? They’ve got Sunday Fun Day, a petting zoo on select Sundays, school-holiday entertainment to fill the days, and kids eat for $3 every Monday. You could check in on a Friday and have non-stop entertainment till Monday! How’s that for switching your brain off?

Whether you’re using it as a launchpad for theme park marathons, a low-key mates getaway, or just an excuse to swap your commute for a five-minute stroll to dinner, Coomera Lodge’s new cabins are shaping up to be one of the more chilled additions to Gold Coast accommodation this year. Bookings are open now, so all that’s left to do is pick your cabin and call it a getaway.

Coomera Lodge Hotel unveils their massive renovation

The iconic institution gets a modern makeover.

Coomera Lodge Hotel, interior (image supplied)
Coomera Lodge Hotel, interior (image supplied)

If you’ve been a northern GC local for sometime you don’t just think of Dreamworld when someone mentions ‘Coomera.’ You think of the iconic Coomera Lodge Hotel.

And you would also know that it’s had its closed sign up for a while, with locals patiently waiting for the new-you-beaut doors to swing open again, after a nip and a tuck… And well folks, now we wait no more as the extensive multi-million-dollar reno is done and dusted, and she’s ready to shine shine shine – once again!

Serving locals and visitors alike since the 80s (the 1800-80s that is), Coomera Lodge Hotel 2.0 is now a Modern Miss, but with just the right amount of heritage feels. The makeover accentuates the beauty of the natural surroundings with natural stone, concrete, exposed brick, lush greenery and warm timbers, catapulting the venue into 2022.

So what’s new you ask? For a start, there’s now a bistro accommodating 150 bods and we reckon every one of those seats will have a bum on them. Let’s not forget the 60-person Sports Bar, Gaming Room, and it wouldn’t be a GC pub without outdoor spaces…and this polished-up gem has three. In fact, a whopping 448 peeps can enjoy alfresco drinking and dining, and we’re having a flashforward to summer hangs…and we likey! Soak up some rays in the open-air areas and if the weather turns to crud, there’s a weatherproofed section too keep you dry, but also hydrated at all times #winkwink. And fun fact incoming; one of these inviting new outdoor spaces is officially known as The Perch, paying homage to lovable resident cockatoos Sammy and Biscuit. All together now: “aww”.

Like a good 90s Demtel ad, “but wait there’s more” to this makeover, and we’re all kinds of excited. We’re talking shooshed-up amenities to complement the new look and feel and every parent’s bestie; a huge kids area right next to the bistro and outdoor dining area. Mum and dad can knock back a few cold ones and enjoy their meal in peace, while their mini-me’s play up a storm and later collapse into bed #bonus.

The aesthetics aren’t the only thing that have had a revamp, with a new dining menu also recently launched specialising in affordable high quality eats #YASSS! Whether you’re a diehard pub grub fan or into something with more of a modern twist, you’ll find plenty to please your palette. The burgers will satisfy any hangover, and the woodfired smoker guarantees grill options infused with flavour for dayz. Vegetarians and vegans, they see you too, with options galore to calm your hunger pangs and keep you coming back for more.

If you’re anything like us, we’re a sucker for a local trivia night and love a venue that speaks to our inner know-it-all. Tuesday nights from 7pm-9pm will scratch that itch for us, and we can already taste the victory! Live music lovers can bop along to up-and-coming local artists Friday to Sunday, and sports enthusiasts, the Sports Bar will air all the games live and loud.

Food and beverage led hospitality operator Australian Venue Co has been investing heavily in revitalising the Queensland pub landscape, with Coomera Lodge Hotel joining the growing list of renovation projects including The Crown Hotel in Lutwyche, Bribie Island Hotel, Boomerang Hotel in Mackay, Kings Beach Hotel in Caloundra, Beenleigh Tavern in Logan and The Wallaby Hotel in Mudgeeraba.

So bring your mates and your fam to indulge in a bit of nostalgia – with a 2022 edge – and here’s to another 137+ years of good times, good nosh and good ol’ fashioned Coomera Lodge hospitality.
