Big news is rolling in at Nobby’s

Nobby’s Beach Surf Club joins The Bears Group.

One of the Gold Coast’s most beloved beachfront institutions has officially paddled into a fresh new chapter, with Nobby’s Beach Surf Club joining forces with The Bears Group, the legends behind Burleigh Leagues Club, Burleigh Sports Club, and Burleigh Bears. Translation? Same iconic surf club, now backed by local hospitality heroes.
You heard it here first: a meeting of Gold Coast greats! On one side, Nobby’s SLSC, holding down the coastline since 1954. On the other, The Bears Group, known for rejuvenating those local Burleigh venues we all know and love. Together the partnership promises renewed strength, sustainability and a future that honours the past while levelling things up a little.

In simple terms, Nobby’s Surf Life Saving Club continues its long-standing mission on the beach, while The Bears Group takes the reins on the supporters club side, bringing refreshed menus, bars, bistros and gaming.

But wait, there’s more! While we won’t spill all the beans just yet, major renovations are coming in 2027, with plans to modernise the venue and upgrade facilities, ensuring Nobby’s Beach Surf Club remains a welcoming, community-first club for decades to come.

Now, onto the all-important matter of food. The refreshed menu keeps those classic surf club comforts while weaving in modern touches. Take, for example, the Stone & Wood battered Lobster Tacos – soft shell tacos loaded with battered lobster, baby gem, and sriracha mayo. They’re generous, indulgent, and an undisputed headliner.
Beyond tacos, the menu is stacked with familiar favourites, crowd-pleasers, and easygoing plates designed for grazing with a cold beer, crisp wine, or something a little more celebratory from the bar. Next to your classics, they’ve got dishes like grilled Byron Bay Haloumi with truffle honey and roasted dukkah, Vego Power Bowls, Caramelised Pumpkin Pasta Napoletana, and Toasted Olive Oil Crostini with roasted dukkah and whipped hummus.

Not a member yet? Here’s why you should be. The new partnership brings bigger rewards, including a multi-venue rewards program, more dining and hospitality experiences, and more ways to earn, enjoy, and feel part of the Nobby’s community. In addition, current members who hold a valid Nobby’s Beach Surf Club membership card will be gifted a FREE five year club membership to The Bears Group.
If it’s been a while since your last visit, here’s your friendly re-introduction: Nobby’s Beach Surf Club is now open seven days a week, trading daily from 10am-10pm. Pop in for live music every Sunday from 2pm-5pm, or get your Friday fix with meat and seafood tray raffles drawn at 6.30pm.
