The Gold Coast has increasingly become more restrictive on the live music front but it appears we’re making up for lost time with countless venues now offering the chance to lace up your dancing shoes and hit the town.
Here’s 14 of the best to get you started from north to south.
The largest AFL club in Queensland, Southport Sharks has been up and running since 1961. Every weekend they showcase local musical talent including tribute bands and good old rock and roll. There are also three restaurants and a café to choose from when it’s time to eat.

The newest of the bunch, Vinnie’s Dive has hosted over 700 live music events in their short lifespan. It’s touted as a dive bar and inside you’ll find walls decked out with album covers, a moody, low-lit vibe and revelers dancing up a storm from Wednesday to Saturday. We hear it’s a good time.

House of Brews
Every weekend the House of Brews feature rock and blues artists. No need to book, just come along to start up your Saturday or wind down your Sunday and make yourself comfortable for some of the best performers on the Gold Coast.

Hard Rock Café
Climb the stairway to heaven and enjoy handcrafted cocktails and freshly prepared American cuisine over some local rock music, what better way to start your weekend? Hard Rock Cafe is where it’s all happening.

Nobby’s newbie Nightcap will have you rocking out until the wee hours with a live band or DJ every night of the week. The team offer new bands the chance to stage too so keep an eye out for fresh talent. Good times always at Nightcap.

The Cambus Wallace
Come aboard and set sail to a destination full of food, rum and live music. The Cambus Wallace awaits you for a night filled with live blues, acoustic sets and vinyl delights. The whiskey is exceptional too – check it out here.

Every Friday and Saturday night Miami comes alive with foods from all around the world and local blues, jazz and roots independent artists. Open from 5pm, Miami Marketta is a place to eat, drink, play, listen to live music, laugh, dance, live and love.

Mo’s Desert Clubhouse
Combining events, gigs, workshops, yoga classes and collaborative office spaces, Mo’s Desert Clubhouse is THE meeting place for the Gold Coast’s coolest movers and shakers. With a recently installed bar and plenty of gigs lined up for the rest of the year, make sure you pencil in a date with Mo’s Desert Clubhouse ASAP.

Burleigh Brewing Co.
They’re all about balance, character and soul and they’re bringing live beats and cold beers to Burleigh. Local acts are paired with food trucks and your favourite brews from Friday through to Sunday at Burleigh Brewing Co. There’s also the occasional art show, movies under the stars and theatre performance for good measure. Plus plenty of exceptional beer.

Always an epic time, Nightjar is know for late night revelry and live music. Lots of local acts take to stage and we’ve also seen a patron or two try their luck on the microphone. Don’t miss this Burleigh legend.

It’s one of the Gold Coast’s favourite live music venues having hosted local, national and international acts. Upstairs at Currumbin RSL, Soundlounge hosts acts from folk soloists to rock and roll bands. Food options include pizza from the bar, an a la carte restaurant and bar snacks.

Iron and Resin Garage
Primarily a clothing store and coffee shop, Iron and Resin Garage was made for rockers and motorbike riders. The reclaimed industrial space features a famous Sunday session with live music from the best local musicians and your favourite food trucks.

The Coolangatta Hotel
One of the Gold Coast’s largest live music venues, The Coolangatta Hotel features both national and international touring bands and DJ’s on any given weekend. Their huge live music space has long been popular for dancing the night away and there are plenty of food options within the hotel once you’ve worked up your hunger.
