Oh, Gold Coasters how could you forget – it’s nearly St Patrick’s Day (this year it’s on Wednesday 17th March 2021)! And you know what that means? Bulk beer drinking is advised, as well as booking the following day off!

We just love St Paddy’s Day. What is there not to love about our Irish cousins? The forever cheerful people, the music, a culture connected to the land, and of course, a healthy appetite for engaging in a few beers on a habitual basis!

In honour of a day dedicated to the Irish, here’s a list of drinking holes to raise your pint glass (from north to south).

Harrigan’s Irish Pub
It’s a big day of good times up north at Harrigan’s. With drink specials, prize giveaways all day, entertainment from Irish bands, dancers and an Irish pipe band, your day will be full of everything that should entail a true traditional Irish celebration. You’ll be sure to have a whale of a time!

Dublin Docks Tavern
Situated on the banks of Biggera Waters and just a hop, skip and jump from Harbour Town Shopping Centre, Dublin Docks is the perfect place to sink a Guinness this St Paddy’s Day. Dress up in your favourite Irish outfit and join them from 11.30am, included are live Irish bands, dancers and yummy Irish food!

Southport Sharks
Celebrating St Patrick’s Day for only one day isn’t enough! So, Southport Sharks are kicking off the celebrations early. Enjoy the tunes of O’Leary & the MunsterBucks at Sharks on Saturday 13th March. Hailing from Munster, Ireland the band members stay true to their roots. O’Leary & the MunsterBucks will perform both traditional and contemporary music from some of Ireland’s most beloved musicians, representing their culture and passion for music. Catch them at 8.30pm on the Main Stage.
Where: Cnr Musgrave and Olsen Aves, Southport

Waxy’s Irish Pub
It’s always a good time at Waxy’s but particularly on and around St Patrick’s Day. This year will be their biggest celebration yet with live music all afternoon and night and plenty of live music from the weekend onwards. With free entry and free face painting, it would be rude not to. Head down there for the very best Irish time there is to be had or pop upstairs to their Skyline Rooftop Bar.
Where: 3206 Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Surfers Paradise

Finn McCool’s
Gear up for an everything Irish day at Finn McCool’s! They’ll be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with Irish food, probably a wee bit too much stout, and of course — great craic! There will be live entertainment from The Gathering, Asleep at the Reel, Limerick and Gold Coast’s very own pipe band, and Irish dancers! Join Finn McCool’s for a day that means so much to them with lots of promos and giveaways to be won on the day!

Kitty O’Shea’s
If you are looking for an Irish jig, look no further than Kitty O’Shea’s. With live music from 6pm – 9.30pm you’ll be set. There’ll also be all the good stuff like Guinness, Magners and Kilkenny on tap, as well as lots of cocktails to choose from. Never a dull moment at Kitty O’Shea’s folks, so be sure to get down there.
Where: Cavill Mall, Surfers Paradise

D’Arcy Arms Irish Pub
It’s a festival of the Irish at the Coast’s oldest (and much-loved) Irish pub, D’Arcy Arms. There’ll be full-blown St Patrick’s Day festivities over, not one, but three huge days (Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th from noon and Wednesday 17th March from 10am) with live Irish music and Irish dancing displays, a marquee bar and a spit roast on the day itself. Head down there for some traditional Irish fare (incl. Classic Beef & Guinness Stew) and what’s sure to be the best time outside of the Emerald Isle itself!
Where: 2923 Gold Coast Highway, Surfers Paradise

Robina Pavilion
You’ll be treated to a guaranteed good time with $5 Green Kilkenny Pints on St Paddy’s Day at Robina Pavilion. For extra Irish spirit, Kilkenny will be flowing at great prices all week and you’ll be able to gorge yourself on great Irish fare. All this to a soundtrack of delightful Irish tunes. See you there ladies & laddies!
Where: 227 Ron Penhaligon Way, Robina

Bine Bar & Dining
The beer-loving crew will be opening the doors from 4pm with St Paddy’s drink specials (think yummy Australian ales & stouts), live music commencing at 7.30pm as well as a steak and bubble & squeak special. Not sure what bubble and squeak is? We implore you to Google it!
Where: 1/28 Chairlift Avenue, Nobby Beach

Scottish Prince
Scottish and Irish is the same thing, right? Mmmm not really, but do not let this put you off a cracking night of entertainment by Irish singer/songwriter Eimhin with Steak & Guinness pies to die for. If you can’t make the 17th and still fancy a St Patrick’s day experience, these guys are doing an Irish whiskey class on the following Saturday afternoon — because what’s just as good as Guinness? Whiskey!
Where: 1176 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach
