These will be your main squeeze!
These will be your main squeeze!
We all feel like we’ve done right by our bods when we forgo the coffee (on that rare occasion) and instead order a nutrient-rich smoothie or freshly prepped juice. I mean surely that undoes any damage inflicted by the 4 cocktails and bottle of sav we sank on the weekend, no?! With this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of seven of the best local smoothie and juice bars on the Coast serving up consistently delicious, refreshing and super healthy sips.
Bonus points if you visit them in your gym gear!
When The Shack Superfood Café closed, we wept. Then along came Nobbys Shack…and we were whole again with their plethora of divine juices and smoothies. Mums and dads, this is the perfect option if you have the ankle biters in tow, as the playground is one helluva good babysitter. We’re swapping tequila slammers for an immunity juice shot with lemon, orange, ginger and turmeric. Instead of causing a headache, this will cure it!
Where: 2241 Gold Coast Hwy, Mermaid Beach
Quench Juice Bar
Whether you’re in the market for a protein shake after the gym or a refreshing juice or smoothie, Quench Juice Bar has the goods. We’re ordering the Quench Colada and we need not explain why. With pineapple, banana and coconut gelato, you’ll get the taste sans the hangover. And coz Rona is still, well, everywhere, a Flu Breaker sounds like a good option with pineapple, lemon, ginger.
Where: Brickworks, Ferry Rd, Southport
Burleigh Village Green Grocer
Anyone who has enjoyed a little shop along James Street (which is everyone) would have by now tried one of Burleigh Village Green Grocer’s famous juices. And if not, what is even wrong with you?! The perfect fuel to start your day or provide an instant pick-me-up, whether you’re 4 or 104, you’ll be an instant superfan. Best thing is, you can construct your own juice. So get your ‘usual’ or mix it up if you’re feeling adventurous. And how good is the loaded fruit on top?!
Where: 2 James St, Burleigh Heads
Crave On Chevron
If you’re fanging for a pre or post-workout blend, Crave On Chevron has you covered with their gourmet milk-free smoothies and dang are they goooood. With 15-25g of protein, under 250 calories, low GI, low sugar, low fat, and infused with vitamins and minerals, you’ll be a lean, mean fitness machine in no time. There are also plant-based options available – winner!
Where: 52 Thomas Dr, Surfers Paradise
Tugun Fruit & Flowers
If we can pick up some beautiful stems with our juice then why wouldn’t we? Hook yourself up with a Pink Pitaya Smoothie with local banana, red dragon fruit (pitaya) and mango blended with fresh pineapple juice and coconut water. Or if juice is more your jam, get your green on with just that – a Green, packed with apple, celery, ginger, cucumber and kale.
Where: 467 Golden Four Dr, Tugun
Any excuse for a trip to Cabarita, and Nectar is where it’s at. In the most beautiful little space you ever did see (truly!), their healthy sips options are next level. Try the PB & A smoothie with spinach, avo, banana, dates, peanut butter, cacao, maple syrup and mylk (dairy-free milk) and tell us you’ve had better. Grab a bottle of the ultimate immunity elixir Sisuu Tonic while you’re there too!
Where: 34 Tweed Coast Rd, Cabarita Beach
Top Juice Pacific Fair
You’re giving your credit card a workout so you may as well make yourself feel like you’ve had one too and grab a protein shake from Top Juice. Protein Shake #4 with avocado, raw almond, milk, honey and whey protein goes down a treat and will give you energy for all that cardio (Pac Fair is big you know). The Minty Mix juice is also a popular choice, blending, you guessed it, mint, spinach, celery and apple. We are already feeling energised enough for more retail therapy!

Words by Bianca Trathen.
Who would have thought that in 2020, hopping across the border would become a treat?
Not us. But here we are friends treating ourselves to exactly that and for very good reason.
A visit to our spectacular southern neighbour Cabarita in fact, for the opening of a stunning newbie you’re going to want to spend some time in at the earliest possible opportunity.
It’s called Nectar and it’s a stunning juice and sandwich bar by the gals who created Burleigh’s Cedar and Stone Botanicals and we are considering moving to Caba so we can visit every single day.
Found on the main strip in the beachside village, Nectar is as beautiful as you’d imagine.
A long, narrow space with white block walls, the prettiest pink tiled bar and touches of magic everywhere you look.
Shelves line one wall, stacked with take home goodies like Cedar and Stones’ range of face and body goodies, incense by This is Incense, cocktail mixers by Mr Consistent, candles by Maison Blanc, coffee table books and dried flowers to name a few things.
All of our favourites are there.
Art lines the walls, including a piece at the front by Anna and Kate’s Mum, made up of a print book the girls cut up.
It’s a space that we would absolutely love to model our home off thank you very much.
Now to eat, as we mentioned there are sandwiches and they are almost certainly the very best you’ve ever sampled.
Choose from a menu filled with options like The Janis Joplin (made with smoked chicken, lettuce, celery, cheese and roasted garlic aioli), The Johnny Cash – with salami, Swiss cheese, tomato and cashew cream cheese or The Janet Jackson with pulled jackfruit, greens, cucumber, sprouts, avocado and mayo. There are others but we’ll let you discover them for yourself.
Of course, you can also choose your own adventure and build the sandwich of your dreams.
All the produce at Nectar is sourced from local farms so you know it’s the absolute goods.
To drink, there are some delightful smoothies including the Lunar Love with Nutra Organics lunar latte powder, banana, coconut mylk, vanilla protein and honey and the Summer Time with mango, orange, passion fruit, honey, coconut water and crushed ice. Plenty more where they came from too.
There are Cold Pressed juices, detox shots and coffee by the gang at Fonzie Abbott.
So basically all the best things can be found at Nectar, including the ocean just a few steps away.
We’re BIG fans.
Jump that border and find out for yourself. Why not make a day of it, Cabarita is the goods.
See ya there.
LOCATION: 34 Tweed Coast Road, Cabarita

After a long day in the surf, there is nothing we want more than an ice-cold acai bowl to cool down and refuel. I guess you could say it’s an acai for sore eyes – see what we did there?
Okay, but does anyone really remember life before acai? That delicious little berry from the Amazon has been a breakfast, lunch and snack staple for Gold Coasters for years and because we take our jobs very seriously, we’ve done the heavy lifting (see: eating) so that you can kick back and chow down. Don’t mind us while we add acai aficionado to our resumé.
Maybe some of the most instagrammable bowls on the GC, Cardamom Pod’s bowls are truly a work of art. Loaded with colourful toppings and flavours like mango mousse, blue spirulina crème and a protein ball, the colourful mermaid tail finisher makes it feel almost too pretty to eat… Almost.
Where: 3/3 Brolga Ave, Southport
If you’re in search of acai perfection, look no further than Blendlove in Southport. Top yours with seasonal fruit, flaked coconut buckinis and it’s like summer in a bowl.
Where: 1/253 Ferry Road, Southport
You probably already know them for their frozen yoghurt and if you don’t, then where have you been, honestly? Now they’re swirling up acai at both their Gold Coast locations and want to know what the best part is? You can swirl as little or as much as your tum desires AND build your perfect bowl with all of the iconic Yo-Chi toppings you know and love.
Where: 11/3240 Surfers Paradise Blvd, Surfers Paradise and 89 Surf Parade, Broadbeach
Goji Granola Bar & Café
Taking the classic acai bowl to a whole new level, Goji Granola Bar is the place where locals flock and celebreties are spotted when visiting our beachside haven. Anything but your average acai bowl, Goji’s signature Coco Fluff vegan ice cream is the hero topper of course with flavours changing weekly. Add fruit for something fresh or a churro if you’re keen to indulge.
Where: 7/60 Santa Cruz Boulevard, Clear Island Waters
This corner-side hangout spot has long been the locals’ favourite place to grab a coffee and a bite post-swim/surf – and it’s easy to see why. Dreamy décor and fantastic breakfast and lunchtime menus mean this is the kind of place you want to visit on the regular with salty hair and sand between your toes.
The pick: Get the Beach Lover Acai Bowl and don’t look back! All of the bright and zesty additions you’d expect but with a healthy dollop of peanut butter as its crown of glory.
Where: 2557 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach
Okay, so you know it’s going to be good when they literally only make acai. Popping up all over the Coast, Oakberry has locations in all your favourite spots, so a bowl is never far away. What do we love most about the Oakberry acai bowl, you ask? Probably that no two are the same. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure vibe with bulk flavours, textures and toppings to create your custom flavour. We’re also low-key big fans of the fact that they come in cup-size containers too. No more praying your acai bowl won’t spill in the car on the drive home.
Where: Pretty much everywhere – Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads, BSKT at Nobby Beach, Broadbeach, Pacific Fair, Coolangatta, The Pines, Robina and Paradise Point
The newest addition to the acai scene, Sunkist Eatery has recently joined the fold at The Oxley and they’re serving up bowls until 5pm. Yes, you read that right. Bowls until 5pm because apparently they’ve felt our pain of having a mean craving in the arvo with no one to save us. Their signature bowl has all the goodies you want to create an epic bowl – think fresh fruit from the Oxley Grocer, crunchy granola and a drizzle of honey.
Where: The Oxley, 17-19 Lavarack Rd, Mermaid Beach
As classic as they come, Nobbys Shack has the traditional acai combo you know and love or another with a cheeky twist. Try the Jungle Bowl for a tropical flavour sensation with acai, cupuacu, banana and coconut water topped with museli, coconut, banana and fresh fruit – tastes like summer in a bowl.
Where: 2241 Gold Coast Highway, Nobby Beach
