Cabarita’s colourful new sandwich + juice bar is here

Nectar Juice House was created by the gals behind Cedar + Stone Botanicals.

Who would have thought that in 2020, hopping across the border would become a treat?

Not us. But here we are friends treating ourselves to exactly that and for very good reason.

A visit to our spectacular southern neighbour Cabarita in fact, for the opening of a stunning newbie you’re going to want to spend some time in at the earliest possible opportunity.

It’s called Nectar and it’s a stunning juice and sandwich bar by the gals who created Burleigh’s Cedar and Stone Botanicals and we are considering moving to Caba so we can visit every single day.

Found on the main strip in the beachside village, Nectar is as beautiful as you’d imagine.

A long, narrow space with white block walls, the prettiest pink tiled bar and touches of magic everywhere you look.

Shelves line one wall, stacked with take home goodies like Cedar and Stones’ range of face and body goodies, incense by This is Incense, cocktail mixers by Mr Consistent, candles by Maison Blanc, coffee table books and dried flowers to name a few things.

All of our favourites are there.

Art lines the walls, including a piece at the front by Anna and Kate’s Mum, made up of a print book the girls cut up.

It’s a space that we would absolutely love to model our home off thank you very much.

Now to eat, as we mentioned there are sandwiches and they are almost certainly the very best you’ve ever sampled.

Choose from a menu filled with options like The Janis Joplin (made with smoked chicken, lettuce, celery, cheese and roasted garlic aioli), The Johnny Cash – with salami, Swiss cheese, tomato and cashew cream cheese or The Janet Jackson with pulled jackfruit,  greens, cucumber, sprouts, avocado and mayo. There are others but we’ll let you discover them for yourself.

Of course, you can also choose your own adventure and build the sandwich of your dreams.

All the produce at Nectar is sourced from local farms so you know it’s the absolute goods.

To drink, there are some delightful smoothies including the Lunar Love with Nutra Organics lunar latte powder, banana, coconut mylk, vanilla protein and honey and the Summer Time with mango, orange, passion fruit, honey, coconut water and crushed ice. Plenty more where they came from too.

There are Cold Pressed juices, detox shots and coffee by the gang at Fonzie Abbott.

So basically all the best things can be found at Nectar, including the ocean just a few steps away.

We’re BIG fans.

Jump that border and find out for yourself. Why not make a day of it, Cabarita is the goods.

See ya there.

Cedar + Stone

Kate Samson, Keri McKenzie, Anna Hamilton and Amelia Gartner have taken the Gold Coast by storm with their plant-based, chemical free skincare range Cedar + Stone.

The much-loved brand has since grown into an international brand, stocked in over 550 stores worldwide.

We sat down for a chat with the local ladies on experimenting with beautiful, plant-based ingredients and the real meaning of natural skincare.

How long have you been Gold Coast locals?
One of the few born and bred! Although the company is made up of Aussies and Kiwis who travel in and out every chance they get.

What do you love most about our seaside city?
The versatility of our surroundings. You can be in the middle of the rainforest one minute and after a ten-minute drive you’re in the surf. Pretty sure we lucked out living here!

How did Cedar + Stone come about?
Two sisters frustrated with the selection of natural skincare in stores got together and turned a small Currumbin Valley kitchen into the home of C + S. From there Cedar + Stone has grown into an international brand, stocked in over 550 stores worldwide.

What’s the process of creating plant-based, chemical-free products?
Firstly, being a chemical free, cruelty free brand, it’s imperative we know where all of our ingredients are sourced from so we can ensure our products are pure. After that, it’s a fun and wild ride of creating and experimenting with all of the plant based ingredients this amazing world has to offer. It’s lots of fun and hard work mixed into one.

Why is it so important we use such products in our homes and on our skin?
With so many free radicals surrounding us on a day to day basis it makes sense to eliminate as many chemicals as we can, not only for the environment also for our family and little furry friends too.

What did you hope to create with your brand when you started out?
We really disliked walking into stores and seeing the term ‘natural’ being thrown around loosely when really the product was actually riddled with nasties. When we say no bad stuff, we mean it. We also want to spread awareness and knowledge on chemical free living.

Is there a Cedar + Stone product we absolutely must-try?
The Lemon Myrtle & Rose Face Oil, our best seller since, forever! It can be used as directed as a face oil or turned into a cuticle oil or underneath makeup as a primer. We’ve even heard of people using it in their hair for frizz control!

What’s happening with Cedar + Stone for the rest of 2018?
Watch this space! Lots of exciting things are happening within Cedar + Stone this year, but if we told you we’d have to…

What’s your favourite piece of life advice…
Be good to your skin – you’ll wear it every day for the rest of your life!

How does your weekend usually look? Sun, ocean, good food, good music, friends and family

Indulge in luxury, seaside glamping at Cabarita Beach

With the warmer months comes inevitable weekend roadtrips, sunny weekends seaside and of course, camping in all it’s natural, laidback glory.

We’re big fans.

Perhaps you’re not a fan of the camping side of things, perhaps you don’t like packing your whole life into the back of the car including a makeshift house, cooking equipment, chairs, poles to hold up said makeshift house, all of the food, all of the things generally. We get it, it’s a lot.

No worries though because the answer has arrived and it comes in the form of glamping by the sea at a brand new boutique resort in Cabarita Beach.

It’s an Australian first called The Hideaway and it’s set to open in October amongst the natural bush surrounds of Cabarita and complete with balmy ocean breezes and views of the mountains in the distance.

As you’d no doubt know, the pretty little village of Cabarita is just a short 15-minute drive from the Gold Coast Airport, making it the actual perfect weekend getaway.

So The Hideaway is a boutique outdoor resort offering three styles of bell tents complete with Koala beds (the comfiest), lush lighting, soft furnishings and plush bath towels. There’s an array of open-air green spaces along with contemporary suite bathrooms and communal entertaining areas, built into shipping containers.

There are native plants placed all around, open fire pits perfect for gatherings with the gang and you may stay as a group with family or take your lover for a romantic little getaway close to home.

Now if you haven’t yet had the pleasure, Cabarita is a delightful little beachside town with award-winning restaurants and plenty of exceptional eateries and boutique stores to spend time wandering around in.

Perfection.

Of course there are plenty of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in the area too – whale watching (in season), surfing of course, picnics on the beach and the like.

All of lifes’ best things.

It’s pretty much the best luxe camping experience you can have and it’s right here on our doorstep.

Opening October 1st. How good.
