Get rid of that guilty conscience once and for all gang, World Chocolate Day is almost upon us and it would be rude not to participate.
That’s right, the sweetest day of the year falls on Tuesday July 7th and what better reason could there be to eat all of the sugary treats.
We’ve found nine of the best chocolate dishes on the Gold Coast, so you can satisfy that sweet tooth we know you’re harbouring.
A dessert of the liquid variety, Guilty Cafes’ Ferrero Choc A Lot crazy shake is all the good chocolately things in the world. It’s a chocolate shake base topped with cream, Ferrero Rocher, crushed nuts, a chocolate wafer and a Tim Tam. There’s really nothing else to say other than the glass also being chocolate rimmed with M&M’s. Just go order one and try to tell us it’s not the best milkshake you’ve ever sipped in your life.

Fresh out of their oven, Custard Canteen have taken the humble cookie and made it next level. The guys at Custard Canteen are creating cookies that literally ooze out with filling when broken in half. We don’t know how they have cooked them to perfection to nail this technique, but we love them for it. Go The OG big Bickie with salted caramel, cream cheese and Lindt white chocolate. Delicious white chocolate oozing out for days.
Where: Tallebudgera Recreation Centre, Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach
A dedicated dessert bar in Pacific Fair, it goes without saying that Cowch will come up with the goods. How does a Cookie Pancake Stack sound? It’s warm pancakes layered with crushed Tim Tams, Oreos and topped with cookies and cream ice cream and milk chocolate. It’s literally all your chocolate dreams come true, then you can get back to shopping.

The Glenelg Public House
The Gold Coast’s first gastro pub is hugely popular for the tender range of quality steaks. The food is premium and the vibes are old school cool. But make sure you leave room or dessert because there’s a decadent Hot Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie with a generous scoop of premium chocolate ice cream and if that’s not enough to get you to mosey on down to Mermaid, we don’t know what will.
Where: 2460 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach (between Glenelg and Bondi Aves)
Oh My, Waffle
Oh My, Waffle opened in Burleigh Heads in 2018 to rave reviews and all the tastiest sweet treats. They’re serving up gourmet waffles, milkshakes, hot chocolates and coffees and every single thing is the most delicious thing. The Straight Outta Burleigh is golden waffle topped with strawberries, brownie pieces, melted Whittaker’s Creamy Milk chocolate, ice cream and whipped cream and guys, it’s the most delicious. Get down there for a very good sweet feast.

Is this even a chocolate list if one item from Paddock isn’t listed? Obviously this go-to sweet haven has many chocolate items that you will struggle to choose between, but these cooler days will be that little warmer with their Signature Hot Chocolate. This winter special is made with real melted Lindt Milk & Dark Chocolate and topped with a torched marshmallow. It’s rich, it’s creamy and it’s oh so chocolatey.

Okay so this place is probably where the term next-level was coined due to the absolute excessive craziness of their creations. Burgers and sides aside, let’s talk cocktails because woah mama, these things are good. Chocolately good in fact. The Bueno consists of Bacardi Carta Blanco, Frangelico, Mozart, Chocolate Liqueur and vanilla cream which is then topped with hazelnut foam and a Bueno bar. Yes indeed. It’s a sight to behold (and a pleasure to sip). Get to Milky Lane ASAP.
Where: 38 Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise
Tucked away in Burleigh is the moody, vibin’ space that is the original Ze Pickle. They’re all about serving up the very best unpretentious burgers and craft beer and we are right behind that. Dessert-wise though, if you’ve got room – the Oreogazm is something else and it, friends, is an absolute taste sensation. If you’re not impressed by deep fried oreos in doughnut batter with ice cream and liquid nutella, we’re not sure what will.
