Miami is quickly becoming a thriving little cultural hub known for its all-inclusive community vibes, a couple of exceptional eateries, a five-star gin distillery and plenty of creativity thrown in for good measure.
Now we can add a hidden laneway bar to the list thanks to the opening of The Hidden Cherub on Lemana Lane. Find it in the building where Heartfill Store also lives.
Boasting a laidback neighbourhood feel perfect for Friday after work drinks or a weekend sip fest, the new venue is decked out with a sleek, industrial-esque look, greenery dripping from the walls and black and white striped bench seating. Sit inside if you’re keen to hide away from the world or outside in the laneway should the weather permit sometime soon.
The bar is the main event at The Hidden Cherub and there are plenty of tipples to keep you entertained.
Starting with cocktails of course. Classic sips like Mojitos (three ways), Margaritas, Spritzes, Martinis, Old Fashioned’s and the like are on offer so all your needs are covered there.
Then there are the signature sips and you can expect treats like The Cherubs Cloud with vodka, elderflower liqueur, strawberries and apple juice, the Lil Frankie with tequila, mango chilli and lime and The Angeles with gin, Chambord, grapefruit juice, lemon and bitters.
You may also treat yourself to a dessert cocktail like Honeycomb Heaven with vodka, butterscotch, coconut cream and chocolate powder.
There’s a selection of local craft beers on tap and in a can variety and a few wines too.
Eats-wise there’s a packed menu filled with share plates, burgers, tacos, salads and sides.
Seasoned Charred Corn with cheese sauce, cashew parmesan and lime aioli, Crispy Mac ‘N’ Cheese Balls and Mozarella Stuffed Jalapeno Poppers are a few of the dishes on offer.
In terms of burgers there’s a Spicy Southern, The Hawaiian and The Classic and tacos come in combos like Tempura Avocado, Chipotle Chicken and Three Bean.
Oh and all the eats are plant-based.
Sunday’s are live music day and happy hour runs from 3pm to 6pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday with $10 cocktails, $7 schooners, $4 pots and $5 basics.
So that’s what’s up in Miami friends, pop in and experience the collective goodness for yourself some time. There’s a bit on.

Is there anything better than making pretty art with your very own hands with like-minded ladies in an absolutely stunning space with a cup of tea and some organic treats to nibble on?
Don’t think so. Did you know that is an exact time you can have at Gold Coast gem The Craft Parlour, which has indeed been around for a few good time packed years now, but has recently moved to a new home at Lemana Lane in Miami.
Which is perfect because, as you may have noticed, there is A LOT of incredible things happening on Lemana Lane (Hotel Miami, Granddad Jacks and Heartfill) in Miami and The Craft Parlour is right at home there.
In case you’ve never had the pleasure, The Craft Parlour is the work of one Rachael Valentine who, not coincidentally, is one of the most love-filled (and loved) lasses on the Coast.
So much so, that she wanted to create a place where creatives could share their passion and skills and in turn, inspire others to awaken theirs.
Built on the premise of creating a community, connection and stepping outside your comfort zone, the space has become one of the Coast’s most adored spots for everything from macramé workshops to pottery and paint and sip classes to paper making.
So all of the things you love.
But back to the space itself (sorry got carried away).
As you’d expect from a gal who encourages creativity for a living, The Craft Parlour is a naturally-lit wonderland of woven wall hangings, shelves packed with coloured yarn, abundant greenery, vintage rugs and timber flooring that all comes together as the 70s beach shack of your dreams. But also probably better than anything you or I could dream up.
It’s a labour of love by Rachel and her partner Seb, jam-packed with soul and a place you will absolutely never want to leave.
If there’s ever been a place to encourage your inner creative to come out and play, it’s this one.
So, if you’re interested in sewing yourself a new frock, painting a resin art piece for your wall or even hosting a baby shower or hens do in a perfectly put together space, look no further than The Craft Parlour.
You might find yourself a new hobby, a new gal pal or simply just some time to kick back and create something pretty.
We’re in love and we think you will be too.
Yeah the Gold Coast.

Ahh Miami. I mean the name alone gives cool vibes for days, and this southern GC suburb does not disappoint. In fact, Miami has risen through the ranks over the last few years to become one of THE places to see and be seen at.
Here are 18 reasons why we can’t get enough and LBH, if it’s good enough for Will Smith to sing about, why wouldn’t we write about it?! (a different Miami but, same same).
This place has awards coming out of every orifice and for darn good reason. Turning a 70-year-old Queenslander home into one of our all-time fave bakeries, Paddock hits a homerun every time. With seating options in the gardens, cottage, loft, rooftop and barn, it is the perfect brunch spot. You won’t give a hoot about the calories in their bakery goods because they are worth not being able to fit into your skinny jeans.

I mean it’s a distillery, and we feel this is enough of a sales pitch… With award-winning spirits galore made by this family-owned business and a super cool rustic vibe, it’s a no-brainer for an awesome arvo. Try the Two Pencils Gin and the Coffee Liqueur…or maybe don’t coz a trip to Dan Murphy’s will just never cut it again. Also, it’s BYO food so there’s more in the kitty to blow on booze.

With homewares, art and craft, flowers, clothes and vintage bits and pieces, this little gem is pure girly heaven. Described as a creative retail space inspired by living slowly and consuming mindfully, it encourages sustainable futures and celebrates creativity. Yay!

If it’s responsibly sourced and sustainable seafood so fresh it’s still swimming (literally) you’re seeking, then this place is your new BFF. If you don’t feel like cooking up their plethora of seafood in your own kitchen, you don’t have to as it also boasts a raw bar with oysters shucked to order, sashimi and specialist conservas from Europe. How good?!

This moody, industrial-esque beer garden and tapas haven is a refreshing change from the Palm Springs-inspired venues which rule the GC right now. With mouth-watering bites, fine wines, local beer goodness and of course, cocktails, it’s where we’re spending our Saturday arvos. Hosting regular events like comedy nights, they also serve Halloumi Tacos and do we really need to say anymore?

Okay so the view from atop Miami Hill is just beyond. It is a steep (but brief) climb, but well worth pushing the ‘ole bod to see our beautiful GC in all its glory from north to south. And if you’re keen to burn off the weekend’s indulgence, the stairs on the north side of the hill are a popular choice for those wanting to raise their heartrate.

If you grew up on the GC, you’ve been to Pizzey Park. A premium sport and recreation precinct, it’s one of the biggest and most popular parks on the Coast. With an area for your pooches to roam, a skate park for the kids to run themselves ragged, and beautiful areas to sit down with a picnic lunch, it’s also the perfect backdrop for an Insta snap-fest.

It could be the backstreets of Thailand, Barcelona or New York City but nope, this epic night market is right here in our city my friends. A family friendly destination, it dishes up a giant slice of multicultural goodness with stalls, street food, live music and events. A must-see in anyone’s books.

Yes, this is the place where you go to throw axes for fun. It’s actually a thing, and a super fun and strangely satisfying thing at that. Perfect for date night, social outings, birthdays, bucks, break-up (I mean, we didn’t say that) or even corporate events, learn from axe throwing gurus who will get you nailing bullseyes in no time. Looking for a feed that’s Italian? That’s BYO? That’s a family-run biz? That’s…Amore! This crowd-pleasing local haunt never fails to knock our socks off. Its reasonably priced menu means we can afford to go every week (if we can get in that is) and its food is as good as it gets. With everything you’d hope to find on the menu, you can taste the love in every dish.
