Greetings from October. Life hey, it goes so fast.
Anyway, here’s a list of all the venues we visited in September in case you missed a couple and would like to rectify that before we get started on October newbies.
The Polish Place
The Polish Place is a Gold Coast institution, absolutely adored by locals and visitors alike so, when they reopened their doors last month after a devastating fire, there was widespread happiness. The family-owned business is set on Mt Tamborine overlooking the Scenic Rim and offering traditional Polish food that is filled with flavour and cooked with so much love. Do yourself a favour and make the trip ASAP.
Where: 333 Main Western Road, Mt Tamborine
Fast, fresh Italian food is the name of the game at Surfers Paradise newbie Love Italy. It can be found in the space where Latitude 28 once lived and there are plenty of tasty pizzas, pastas and the like to indulge in. Pizza-wise the Mediterranea was a winner with feta, pepperoni, caramelized onion, roasted capsicum, grilled eggplant, black olives and mozzarella. There’s fab Italian cocktails too. How good.
Where: 8 Cavill Mall, Surfers Paradise
The long-awaited Noosa favourite moved into Broadbeach last month and the people are thrilled about it. For good reason. The stunning venue boasts fine dining without the fuss and the menu is made up of all the very best options from bar bites to pizzas, entrees, mains, sides and desserts. You’ll want to go back time and time again to taste it all. Cocktail-wise, prepare for something really special. There’s a selection of Miss Moneypenny’s favourites, sparkling cocktails, an array of gin and tonics, The 80’s Cruise Ship set and a House Crafted section and they’re all exceptional. Go now.

Next Door Espresso
Speaking of venues the locals are thrilled about, Next Door Espresso opened and was immediately inundated with people who absolutely had to see the magic for themselves. The venue opened within the St Barts interiors precinct and both are absolutely stunning and the perfect addition to the Burleigh Heads scene. Make it a priority to get in there, shop up a storm and then settle in for a Moonshine coffee and a delicious, healthy lunch. So good.
Where: 24 Junction Rd, Burleigh Heads
Mexi-goodness moved into Burleigh Heads in late September bringing a bit of a unique spin to everyone’s favourite cuisine. Margarita Cartel offers many a margarita as well as $12 Espresso Martinis and a menu absolutely packed with delicious eats. The space itself is intimate and filled with colour and you’d be forgiven for thinking you had stepped off a Mexico street. Gather the gang and get in there for a good time.
Where: 2/1840 Gold Coast Hwy, Burleigh Heads
Meat & Co
If you are a lover of mouthwatering, cooked-to-perfection meat feasts complete with authentic house-made sauces and inspired by the nation arguably best at meat feasts in the world (South Africans), you’re in luck. Meat & Co in Broadbeach is serving up exactly that in the form of boasting finger-lickin ribs, towering burgers, the finest steaks and flavour-filled chicken wings. There are also delicious South African-inspired cocktails to wash it all down with and that is a good time folks.

Surfers Paradise Beach Bar
Beaches and bars are two of our favourite things and luckily there are plenty of both right here on the Gold Coast. The newest of the latter is Surfers Paradise Beach Bar on Soul Boardwalk with it’s lovely views of the sparkly ocean, excellent array of all your favourite cocktails and tasty eats for sister-biz Surfers Paradise Beach Café right at your fingertips. Bring on summer.
Where: Soul Boardwalk, Surfers Paradise
The new kid on the Nobby’s block is Nobby’s Rock which is kind of a poem and very much a good time. It’s all low-lit and moody with comfy couches to sink into with a cocktail in hand. The newbie is both a bar and a restaurant and both menus are filled with taste sensations the likes of which you’ve never experienced before. The drinks list is packed with exceptional cocktails while the food is light, healthy and made up of locally sourced, organic-where-possible produce by one of the best chefs on the Coast. We love.
Where: 2243 Gold Coast Hwy, Nobby Beach
Last but absolutely not least is a little gem that opened a bit of a drive away in Burringbar. It’s called Elwood and it’s cosy and sweet with all the vintage vibes we love and we are seriously considering moving to Burringbar just so we can visit every day. They’re serving up Moonshine coffee and a selection of baked treats with the full menu coming soon. Elwood is set on a quiet street amongst towering trees and it’s the absolute BEST spot for a little time away from the city so we suggest going there this very weekend.
