Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is the most important traditional holiday in China. We’re entering into the year of the rooster which will be a powerful one when it comes to moving forward. Think success and make your first impressions count!

The Gold Coast will transform into an Asian inspired wonderland with plenty of opportunities to celebrate at one of these events.

1.     Kung Fu Dumpling Party at QT
Cue the Dragon Dancers and poise your chopsticks! Stingray Lounge is preparing for a Chinese New Year celebration like no-other with the launch of the first Kung Fu Stingray Dumpling Party. See in the Chinese New Year of the Rooster with $3 dumplings, Asian Fusion cocktails and entertainment all night.

2.       The Kitchens
To mark the 2017 Chinese New Year, The Kitchens’ is collaborating with the Chinese Cultural Association on Sunday 29 January, to bring customers an exciting festival event comprising of remarkable Chinese entertainment, as well as Chinese food and craft workshops from 10am to 4pm.

3.       Chinese New Year at Palazzo Versace
Immerse yourself in Chinese culture and celebrate the Year of the Rooster at Palazzo Versace Gold Coast. Witness the symbol of Chinese feminine beauty gracing Palazzo Versace’s stunning lobby until February 8th, created by The Cherry Blossom Tree. Or indulge in traditional Chinese cuisine including succulent Peking duck, whole suckling pig and Chinese style crab.

4.       Links Hope Island
Celebrate Chinese New Year at Links Hope Island’s inaugural Community Street Festival. Authentic Chinese entertainers including a string quartet, singers, flautist, Tai Chi Sword Dance, Chinese massage, cultural activities and a delicious array of Chinese street food. There will be plenty for the kids to do at the “Little Wonderland” with a Chopstick Competition, calligraphy and dumpling making classes.

5.       Harbour Town
Harbour Town has some special Chinese New Year’s celebrations for the whole family. A full size lion dance costume will bring luck and good fortune for all from 12pm – 1.30pm.
For the kids there will be Chinese New Year Craft Workshop between 10am – 2pm.

6.       Lunar New Year, Southport
The annual Lunar New Year event in Southport’s Chinatown features an Asian-infused street food market, live music and cultural entertainment, interactive workshops, screening of Kung Fu Panda 3, pop up laneway bar and a spectacular fireworks display.

7.       Lunar New Year at Jupiters
There’s a lot happening at Jupiters this Lunar New Year. Follow the good fortune ribbon and celebrate the Year of the Rooster at one of five delicious Asian inspired restaurants and watch the traditional lion dancers make their way throughout the Casino. Chinese vocalist Na Ying will be performing live at Jupiters Theatre on Saturday 11th February from 7.30pm.
Treat yourself to Zen’s special Lunar New Year menu.
Enjoy a selection of traditional dishes plus three Lunar New Year cakes for $8 at Mei Wei Dumplings.
Food Fantasy will be dishing up Yum Cha available for lunch and dinner.
