The Star Gold Coast is rolling out the red chopsticks this Lunar New Year.

Are you craving a Lunar New Year feast fit for an emperor? Same, and this February, The Star Gold Coast is rolling out the red chopsticks with a host of extra special Asian dishes that’ll have your taste buds dancing. Ushering in the Year of the Dragon with a roar, Mei Wei Dumplings, Uncle Su, and Harvest Buffet are all getting involved.

There’s plenty to feed your eyeballs too, with live entertainment including lion dancers, drummers and much more. Yes, we said lion dancers and trust us, they are fierce. So don’t drag your feet, get yourself down to The Star for all your Lunar New Year action.

Mei Wei Dumplings
We’ve got big fillings for Mei Wei Dumplings all year round, especially when they’re turning on the Lunar New Year charm. Grab your fave +1 and nosh out with an extra special dish for two that’ll have you both breathing fire with delight. The Hot Chilli Crab, accompanied by seasonal vegetables and steamed rice, is a verified masterpiece sure to please the most discerning diner. Available for lunch and dinner, February is a-bao to get a whole lot tastier.

Uncle Su
Uncle Su is always a winner. Everyone’s fave uncle is pulling out all the stops with a specialty Chinese New Year Menu that’s totally wok-ing our world. Don’t be tofu-lish, indulge your taste buds in a dim sum extravaganza that’s so(y) good you’ll totally ditch your NY resolution to cut back.

The Uncle Su enthusiasts amongst us know that their Yum Cha is always wonderful, and the Year of the Dragon edit is next level ‘let’s go’ worthy. Featuring delicacies like Braised Abalone, Fish Maw with dried oyster mushroom in oyster sauce, Deep Fried Coral Trout Filet with scallion sauce and Crispy Pork Belly, you’d be crazy to miss it.

Harvest Buffet
For a buffet experience with extra sizzle, Harvest Buffet is a no-brainer. This Lunar New Year, they’re turning up the heat with an array of palate-pleasing Asian-inspired dishes. Wasa-bae? Kiyomi is calling, promising a top-notch romantic evening with a side of decadence and intimacy. Let the world-class chefs guide your Valentine’s Day culinary journey with a set menu for $165 per person, complete with optional wine and sake pairings (#YesAndYes). Or, if you know what you want what you really really want, then the infamous a la carte menu is perf for all the ‘ramen-tics’ out there.

As S Club 7 once told us, there ain’t no New Year’s party like a Chinese New Year’s Party (#EmbellishedForEffect) and here on the Gold Coast, we concur! To celebrate The Year of the Dragon which fun fact, is the only mythical creature of all the animals in the Chinese zodiac, round up your crew and get amongst the abundance of colour, dance, fun, and of course, amazing Asian food!

Grand Dynasty
Get ready to unleash the dragon within and welcome the Year of the Dragon at Grand Dynasty! Delight in a feast fit for emperors as you usher in the New Year with delectable Chinese cuisine. With doors open from 11am until 10pm, it’s a day and night affair not to be missed. Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 18th, as a captivating Lion Dance performance takes centre stage at 1pm. The Australian National Chinese Women’s Federation Lunar New Year Festival
If you’re a touch further down the coast and vibing a family-friendly celebration, then this Lunar New Year festival is for you! Taking place on Saturday 24th February between 11am and 3pm, soak up the fun and vibrancy with plenty of Chinese New Year inspired activity and entertainment for all ages. And the best part – it’s FREE!

T’ang Court
Splurge this CNY at our city’s fanciest Cantonese fine-dining sensation, The Langham Gold Coast’s T’ang Court. The esteemed Surfers Paradise restaurant honours its Michelin-star sister restaurants through a showstopping selection of signature Chinese New Year dishes curated specifically for the occasion by their talented chefs. Available from the 9th to the 16th of February.

Harbour Town Premium Outlets
Like we needed an excuse to go to Harbour Town, but here’s one anyway! Be dazzled by lion and dragon dancers and Chinese drums, with three roving performances daily on February 10th and 11th. Pop into Harbour Town Eats decorated with Chinese lanterns, festoon lights and a Chinese Wishing Tree and take in the mouth-watering sights, smells, and tastes of cuisines from Japan, Vietnam, China, Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia. Dive into a weekend filled with the vibrant sights, sounds, and tastes of Asia!

Carrara Markets
On Sunday 11th February from 10am, bring the kids and get ready for a fun-fuelled Chinese New Year celebration at Carrara Markets, Australia’s largest marketplace! The spectacular Chinese lions & dragons will parade through the markets and wow the crowds with their colour, movement and grandeur, so don’t forget to pack your cameras! With over 300 food and variety stores, “meet me at Cararra Markets…” (we all remember the diddy) and make a day of it!

Southport Sharks
Get the kiddos and grandparents in tow and head for Southport Sharks this Lunar New Year. Enjoy delicious, Chinese-inspired dishes added to the buffet from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th February. Those dining on Sunday will be treated to a traditional Chinese Lion Dance at 7.30pm! Some of the mouth-watering buffet additions include Lemon Chicken, Szechaun Pork and Chive Dumplings, Sweet and Sour Pork, Steamed Fish with Ginger and Shallot, Sesame Noodles, and more. Drool! Adults from $44.90 per person.

Uncle Su
Our fave uncle, Uncle Su, is pulling out all the stops with a specialty Chinese New Year Menu that’s totally wok-ing our world. From the 1st to the 29th of February, the a la carte menu will feature a curated selection of CNY-inspired nosh, from traditional favourites to the more exotic. Don’t mind if we do!

Mei Wei Dumplings
If there’s one thing we can never ever knock back (aside from a margi), it’s dumplings. Especially if they’re from Mei Wei Dumplings! From the 9th to the 29th of February, Mei Wei invites you to embrace Lunar New Year with a dish for 2, with Hot Chilli Crab, Seasonal Vegetables and Steamed Rice.

Waves Buffet Restaurant
For a buffet experience with extra sizzle, head along to Waves Buffet restaurant at voco every Friday and Saturday night until the end of February. Enjoy all your regular Seafood Buffet faves plus a special selection of Chinese-inspired dishes, including Steamed Dumplings, Pork Belly Bao, Steamed Whole Snapper with Ginger and Shallots, a live Noodle Station and Mooncakes. Adults from $89.
