You don’t have to duet it alone!
You don’t have to duet it alone!
Karaoke has to be one of the funniest times you can have out with friends. It’s one of those rare things in life where it doesn’t matter if you’re terrible; you will be cheered on anyway. In fact, the worse you are, the better. And on those rare occasions, you get to witness somebody who could probably sign a record deal but just so happens to be a sparky for a living.
It turns out there are a few places around the Gold Coast where you can sing your little lungs out without fear of judgment and enjoy yourself a lyric fuelled good time!
Strike Bowling
This place truly has it all, from bowling to escape rooms and a well-stocked bar in between; but were you aware they have private karaoke rooms available for hire? Yep, read that again. Ok, so it’s not your classic stand-up in a bar full of strangers deal, but the high level of laughs and fun you’ll have with your squad is priceless. There’s also the added bonus of choosing who sings what and when! Pair this up with some of their other fun-filled activities (before or after), and you’ve lined up yourselves a fun night out.
Where: Circle on Cavill, Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Surfers Paradise
Tune-Up
This one is a goodie, it’s a legit karaoke bar made for that exact purpose, and we have it on excellent authority that a good time is guaranteed. There’s a stage for the daring ones and private booths if you want to get cosy with your crew. All you gotta do is buy a drink in exchange for entry, which will not be a problem for us, sir. Get us three straight up. You’ll find people from all walks of life there, which is code for ‘there will definitely be a worse singer than you’.
Where: 23 Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise
E-Star Karaoke
If something a little bit fancy is your jam, E-Star Karaoke is the one. With gold gilded armchairs, wallpaper fit for a queen and over 300,000 songs to choose from, this Southport gem is an entirely unique experience. There’s a delicious buffet restaurant to fill your tummy before you take to the stage to belt out a beat. It seems Chinatown in Southport is the place to be karaoke fans. Remember, you’re the voice!
Where: Davison Lane, Southport
Fat Freddy’s
As if this Broadbeach hotspot wasn’t already a hive of tasty American eats, delectable cocktails and all the sporting action your retinas can take, they also happen to have themselves a somewhat cheeky and regular Saturday karaoke night. With a venue that exudes such personality, you’ll need an equally bubbly host to see over the proceedings, right? Enter the always charismatic and eternally bubbly Sea FM radio host, Bianca Dye, as she hands out prizes and keeps the songs — and laughs — going.
Where: 50 Surf Parade, Broadbeach
The Avenue
There is always something happening at Surfers Paradise, and we reckon The Avenue is an integral part of that! Always popular on any given day of the week, you’ll find people converging for daily specials and a host of events, one of those being their Monday Night Karaoke! Not a bad way to start the week at all. We recommend getting in early for some fantastic food, lining up a few cocktails before then serenading the crowd into the early hours with your worst-best singing voice. Tuesday morning can wait!
Where: 3-15 Orchid Avenue, Surfers Paradise
