The Point Danger Branch of Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) is gearing up for an unprecedented 100-hour surf lifesaving patrol over the Easter long weekend, setting a new record for the longest continual patrol in Australia’s history.
This momentous undertaking, featuring over 100 lifesavers is part of the Branch’s 100-year celebration, marking a century of unwavering commitment to saving lives and ensuring beach safety.
The record-breaking patrol begins at 4pm EST on Wednesday March 27th and continues over the Easter weekend, features over 100 dedicated lifesavers demonstrating their commitment to promoting the importance of water safety awareness as thousands of Australians soak up the sun and sand over the holiday period.
To celebrate, a free community event is being held at Coolangatta beach featuring life saving displays from the Point Danger surf life saving branch, $10 unlimited fair rides, food trucks, free music performances and fireworks.
