It’s that time again footy fans. Two whole days when bulk party pies washed down with bulk cans of XXX Gold is completely acceptable. Yes, finals weekend is upon us and how good is having two reasons to celebrate! Plus an extra day for recovery. YES!
The AFL is kicking off the footy party this Saturday with GWS Giants vs. Richmond Tigers (2.30 pm), followed by the NRL grand final next weekend with teams TBC.
Here are a few places to celebrate, from north to south.
Crafty’s Sports Bar
Catch both finals at Harbour Town’s sweet sports bar Crafty’s. There’s lots of next-level footy food on offer, not to mention tons of beers on tap and plenty of activities to entertain the kids if you’re taking them along. Plus of course, plenty of action on the many screens.

Catch all the good times this weekend at Southport Sharks. Choose between several huge screens and feel the energy of a packed stadium with screaming fans and free footy food at half time. Happy days.

Fisherman’s Wharf Tavern
Keen for a footy party overlooking the marina this weekend? Get down to Fisho’s. There’ll be drink specials and footy food and you can enjoy it all while relaxing by the water and watching the sun go down (in the ad breaks obviously).

Waxy’s Irish Pub
Get down to Waxy’s Irish Pub, sit back, relax and enjoy a tasty feast while supporting your team, all in HD on the big screen this weekend. You know the Irish like to party so this will be a good time.

Surfers Paradise Tavern and Beer Garden
The recently revamped beer garden is the place to be for footy finals this year. Sip on frosty beverages overlooking Cavill Ave with the sun on your face and the rowdy good vibes of footy fans in the air. The perfect spot for grand finals.

Melba’s on the Park
Melba’s will be playing both games live and loud on over 20 plasmas around the venue so you won’t miss a second. Melbas’ kitchen will be serving delicious footy feeds and, once the games are over, kick on with the resident DJ.

The Surfers fave is going to be one of the most happening places to be this grand finals weekend. It’ll definitely be live and it’ll definitely be loud so put your party pants on and get there. Probably best to book a seat so you don’t miss out.

Bloke in a Bar
It may be small in size but what this little bar doesn’t lacks in terms of space, it certainly makes up for in atmosphere. Run by former NRL player Denan Kemp it’s a show, it’s a bar and it’s a fun place to hang with your mates and watch the footy.

The Broadbeach newbie is the best spot to be if you’re into US-style eats to go with your footy game. Fat Freddy’s have plenty of big screens set behind behind the bar and they’re serving up some of the best burgers, chicken wings and hot dogs around.

The Star Gold Coast
The Star Gold Coast is the place to be with an epic sports bar and a big old lawn to catch all the action. Kick back in the comfortable, outdoor setting of the Sports Bar Terrace with a tipple or two before the NRL Grand Final kick off on the mega screen.

Burleigh Bears Leagues Club
If you’re after the real footy experience, Burleigh Bears Leagues Club is where you want to watch the finals this weekend. Kicking off with the AFL grand finals on Saturday in the lounge, followed by the NRL grand finals on Sunday in the Sports Bar, you can it back, relax and enjoy a couple of cold ones.

The rowdy bunch at Nightjar are swinging open their doors at 1pm on AFL grand final day, just in time for kick off. There’ll be some epic drink specials until the final whistle and once you’re full of those you can dance the rest of the night away.

No doubt it’ll be one of the busiest places on the Coast this weekend due to the abundant good vibes and large variety of delicious, frosty cold beverages on offer. Balter Brewers will be showing the game on the big screen both days and there’ll be the usual food truck option and plenty of fun company.

Grab your friends and catch all the action of the footy Grand Finals at Currumbin RSL, it’s always a fun atmosphere. There are huge plasma screens around the Club plus complimentary finger food at half time for both finals, beer specials and a new range of Husk Distillers inspired cocktails to toast the champions! Lovely.

The Coolangatta Hotel
Head down to Coolangatta and get ready for what’s probably one of the biggest Grand Final line-ups this long weekend. Watch the finals on Saturday and Sunday followed by live music plus food and drink specials all weekend long.
