Erva Nail Spa

An organic nail salon opens in Burleigh Heads.

Self care as a term, seems to have only existed for a short while, but is in fact a thing that is both a necessary and enjoyable delight we should all experience daily. Yes daily.

The practice of self care can manifest in many ways depending on you and whatever makes you feel good. You know what makes us feel good? Being pampered by people who care for products that are both good for us and good for the environment.

Which is why it’s both delightful and convenient that Erva Nail Spa opened up in Burleigh Heads recently bringing exactly that to self care-loving Gold Coasters.

The stunning space is the work of local gal Leila Davoren who wanted to bring an organic, non-toxic experience to the local nail spa industry.

The second you set foot inside Erva you’ll be enveloped in serenity. A relaxed, nurturing vibe emanates from the upstairs salon, which is decked out in natural earthy colours, you’ll never want to leave.

Textured walls offset by plush furniture and gold accents are the work of architect Thais Pupio and interior designer Uscha Banning, who have come together to bring Leila’s vision to life and make some absolute magic.

Leila’s idea behind creating the space was to make people feel truly special and as soon as you sink into one of the softest of armchairs and gaze around at the draped greenery and perfectly curated interior, you will indeed feel that Erva is not your average nail spa.

All products are organic and non-toxic with the creams and soaks made in-house. Everything is vegan, which of course means also not tested on animals.

Erva is a Portugese word for herb, an essential part of the spas approach to nurturing. The benefits of herbs, essential oils, salts and ointments are used in everything from creams and exfoliants to masks.

If we had to choose just one service, it would be the Divine – a self love ritual designed to heal and restore the health of your hands or feet including a soak, nail shaping and buffing, cuticle care, exfoliant, a mask, massage and polish to finish.

It’s actual heaven and self-care at its absolute finest.

So if a little bit of self care is on the agenda (and it absolutely should be), there’s no better place to treat yourself than this Burleigh beauty.

You deserve it, trust us.

LOCATION: 4/3 Park Ave, Burleigh Heads
HOURS: From 10am Tuesday to Sunday

Clean Beauty Market

In happy news for everyone with skin, a beauty emporium has opened in Nobbys Beach (land of the good vibes and beautiful people).

Not any old skincare store though, the glowy-skinned team at Clean Beauty Market are experts in non-toxic, natural and organic products that are free from animal testing. How fun.

The store, found next to Sparrow Eating House, is as pretty as you’d expect, decked out in white with blush accents and a glowing pink sign declaring “you are magic”. And magic is exactly what you’ll find once you’ve stepped inside the delightfully scented space that’s packed with countless natural makeup and skincare brands.

It’s pure heaven to be honest and it’s entirely possible you’ll spend your life savings in one visit. YOLO.

While buying all of the good-for-you skincare is always a smart idea, you can also book yourself in for some pampering. There’s makeup lessons, skin regime consultations and makeup applications for special occasions (or, you know, work on Monday).

PLUS, you and your gals can indulge in a makeover party should you so desire.

Owner Erin Norden is a Coast local and former freelance makeup artist who (sensibly, let’s be real) saw an opportunity, found the perfect space in Nobbys and made the magic happen.
Clean Beauty Market is the first (and hopefully not the last) store of its kind on the Gold Coast and it’s a solid step in the right direction for the many ladies who are choosing natural products to slather all over their skin (and the rest who should jump on that bandwagon ASAP).

Great news for the Gold Coast, the Earth and your face.

LOCATION: 1/32 Lavarack Rd, Nobbys Beach
HOURS: 9am to 5pm daily.

Ever had one of those days where you just CANNOT anymore? Same. But you can also never quite put your finger on what it will take to bring you back to life? Same, times two.

Well, we went in search of the answer and you may not be surprised to hear that it is complete and utter pampering at the hands of someone who knows exactly what pampering means.

And we also know just where to get it. You’re welcome.

One Spa at RACV Royal Pines in Benowa is the answer and there aren’t enough words to describe the experience of the pampering you’ll receive there but here we are, giving it a good old fashioned try.

One Spa is exclusively offering clients on the Gold Coast the LaGaia UNEDITED range of luxury skincare products and treatments.

LaGaia’s targeted skin treatments, wellness and relaxation services promote powerful health and skin results.

The stunningly decked out space has amassed a following of people who now truly understand the definition of luxury spa experiences.

Upon entering, you’ll notice how calm and quiet it is, especially compared to the chaotic outside world you will quite soon forget. It’s a special kind of magic, all welcoming and cosy and heavenly.

Similar to the extremely fluffy robe and slippers you’ll be handed to pop on while you sit for a minute in the relaxation room overlooking the water and complete with resident ducks and the sounds of bubbling water. Here you may sip on lemon and ginger tea and read health and wellbeing books like the relaxed, stress-free little poppet you are soon to be.

The new One Spa menu, co-designed with LaGaia, features local and international inspired rituals.

We opted for the Knowing Touch massage which, by the way, was the best massage we’ve ever experienced all perfect pressure and taking place in a dark room with no talking. This unique Akwaterra facial and body massage incorporates both warmed and chilled ceramics to relax the mind and ease discomfort from tight, sore muscles.

BLISS.

Beforehand though, we took part in a 30-minute steamroom situation, that is optional but should absolutely be taken up. Here you may wash your hair, exfoliate your body, make steamy mist fall from the ceiling, have a cold shower or simply just sit and let yourself be steamed.

It is both the perfect pre-treatment time and 30 minutes alone doing nothing at all which is a godsend in itself.

So obviously we HIGHLY recommend a massage at One Spa but of course, the exceptional team also offer ten-star facials, body, hand and foot therapies and grooming services.

Their piece de résistance though are water therapies consisting of everything from the simple (but life-changing) steam shower to a private outdoor Jacuzzi experience, Hydrotherapy baths, Massage Jet showers and Vichy showers. All of which are the ultimate in indulgence.

If you’d like to extend your time there and try a few different therapies tied up into one sweet little package that is the very best idea you’ve ever had.

Another highlight of the new menu is the use of Gua Sha for face and body. This practice adapts the ancient Taoist practice for moderate to deep body massage, and a luminating Gua Sha facial technique for lymphatic wellness benefits.

At the end, you’ll get more time in the relaxation room plus a few extra treats and then you can be on your merry way, walking on clouds and oblivious to exactly what it was that bothered you at any point in your life before this one.

We cannot overstate the absolutely incredible time that was had during our experience at One Spa. It was, quite simply, something we’ll never forget.

Go see for yourself.
