They’re the local lads jumping on the beer brewing bandwagon and you’ll hear no complaints from us.
Ed Hatcher and Keegan Shaw dreamed Thursday Brewing not too long ago and, in the last few weeks, launched their first batch onto the local scene.
We sat down for a chat with the boys about drinking beer while dreaming up beer brands and adding hard liquor to the range.
How long have you been Gold Coast locals?
We have both grown up on the Gold Coast, so our entire lives, 21 and 23 years, we also both live in Mermaid Beach.
What do you love most about living here?
Definitely the lifestyle, you can do everything and all within such a close range. We can walk from the beach to our favourite restaurants and bars.
Tell us how Thursday Brewing came about…
Basically it all began over a few beers one Thursday night early last year. We can never quite wait until the weekend to have one. We’ve always had an avid interest in beer and it’s been a huge learning process working with a range of brewers and breweries.
What’s your flagship brew?
The flagship brew is called Thursday Lager and it’s a fruity, dry hopped lager that’s not overpowering. It gives subtle citrus hits and is very drinkable over a whole night.
Where can we find Thursday Brewing around the Coast?
This week we are launching at Après Surf and Alfred’s Apartment and a range of other venues will be stocking us in the near future.
What’s the plan for the brand going forward?
We have a few new beers in the works, we’re just getting some final recipe changes perfected and we have some plans to launch a hard liquor range to complement the beer.
Best piece of life advice you’ve ever received?
Probably to understand that your first few ideas won’t work, but in time, something will pay off with hard work. We’ve both worked on a range of projects in the past, and don’t plan to stop here.
