One thing’s for shore… this motel is a must-stay!
Move over, high-rise hotels – motels are getting a makeover! The latest is The Shores Miami, a 1970’s Gold Coast gem that has undergone a multi-million dollar transformation, blending retro vibes with modern comforts to create a nostalgic charm. Nestled just 200 metres from Miami Beach and a leisurely stroll to Burleigh, Miami and Nobby’s, this unique stay is shore to please.
Spearheading this motel revolution are Chris Strode, a tech mastermind behind a billion-dollar app who ensures the motels are smart but guest friendly; Nick Ellis, a leader in hotel operations and Jason Grant, whose creative touch combined with G Built Group’s boutique building expertise, elevates these properties to a new level of design and comfort. Together, they are setting a new benchmark in the motel industry, blending trendiness with tech-savvy convenience while keeping the human connection at the forefront of the guest experience.
After a year and a half of renovating The Shores Miami, the recent refurbishment has truly transformed the 1970’s motel into a haven for those seeking a blend of past and present. Brought to life by builder Greg Strode, the retro aesthetic pays homage to the motel’s history, while modern amenities such as self-check-in rooms and Australia’s first-ever Al-powered customer service ensure guests have all the creature comforts they need.
The motel is awash in nostalgic shades. From the bright orange sun lounges, lush greenery, soothing pastel coloured doors and the soft pink motel sign, the palette gently sets a relaxed, welcoming tone inside and out.
Whether travelling solo or with a family in tow, the accommodations are designed to cater to every traveller’s needs. The Miami Mini offers a cosy retreat, while the Miami Studio provides a bit more space for those who like to stretch out. For guests seeking a touch of luxury, the Miami Suite and Sunset Suite boast separate living areas and bedrooms, ensuring your stay is comfortable for the whole crew.
Each room is thoughtfully equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with streaming services, SMEG appliances, bar fridge, top-notch T2 tea and Nespresso machine. Now that’s what we call a modern motel!
The private bathrooms come with hairdryers and complimentary toiletries, but it’s the walk-in rainfall shower that adds that extra touch of luxe to your stay.
An oasis awaits out the back, where you’ll find a sparkling pool surrounded by plush loungers and dreamy VIP cabanas. Sit back, relax, and let your worries drift away.
But the allure doesn’t stop poolside. The surrounding area is a treasure trove of activities and dining options, with the newly opened Bar Monte right on your doorstep. And with the beach so close, you can easily dive into water sports or simply bask in the sun.
This is just the beginning of motel makeovers from The Shores team. Three beautiful motels in Broadbeach, Kangaroo Point and New Farm have also been snatched up and are about to get The Shores treatment, with lots of TLC on the way. Once they’ve been lovingly restored, they’ll be the perfect siblings to The Shores Miami.
One thing’s for shore — if you’re looking for a place to stay (staycay anyone?), The Shores Miami should be at the top of your recs list.
