The LC

Things are movin’ on up in a big way around here Gold Coasters and we, as committed food lovers, are 100% here for it. The latest (and dare we say greatest) addition to the local scene has been a long-awaited one, particularly for the vegans among us, and there’s no doubt it was worth the wait.

The LC opened in Miami over the weekend bringing an entirely vegan marketplace to the very appreciative locals (and a fair few out of towners from what we hear). It’s the first plant-based foodie destination of its kind in Australia and it’s certainly going to quickly become an absolute star to those of all eating persuasions.

Located right on the Gold Coast Highway, a few doors down from Flannerys, The LC is a beautiful double storey, white building all breeze block fences and wooden floorboards. A spacious deck adorns the front of the building and out the back a half-covered/half sun-soaked area, strung with fairy lights and complete with outdoor umbrellas, is perfect for an afternoon of indulging in tasty eats with the crew.

Inside you’ll find all the goodness you came for with five unique food vendors creating everything from vegan donuts to pizza and the world’s first vegan kebabs. There’s also a licensed bar, live music and even more good times to move in upstairs pretty soon.

Let’s talk food though and what a chat it is.

Flour of Life Bakery have all your sweet treats covered from the aforementioned vegan donuts, in all your favourite flavours, to custard tarts, vanilla slice brownies and even ‘meat’ pies and vegan sausage rolls. Because we knew you’d appreciate it, we taste tested the donuts in three flavours and they are perhaps the best we’ve ever sampled. You’re welcome.

I like ramen is brewing up, you guessed it, ramen noodles in the tastiest of combos. Think spicy Korean kimchi, soy mushroom and miso flavours and paired with spinach noodles, it’s a healthy, delicious taste sensation every time. The team, who you may have seen moonlighting at Bine previously, also make an epic meat free po’boy. Get it.

Gigi’s Pizzeria is a much-loved gang from Sydney making exclusively vegan, gluten-free pizzas that’ll knock your socks off. It’s a pizza-lovers heaven and not a scrap of meat in sight. The crew also run the gelato bar at the front of the building and if that’s not a combination for the ages, what is.

BVK stands for burgers vs., kebabs and how could you ever choose between the two. Trick question, you can’t. Plant-based kebabs are packed with tasty veggies and mouth-watering sauces and burgers, with a side of fries of course, are better than you could ever imagine. Like we said, the concept is a world first and it’s going to catch on like wildfire. See, we’re movin’ on up.

Last but definitely not least is Flora by Greenhouse (those Greenhouse gals hey) and what would The LC be without them. It’s a gourmet deli style scenario with the yummiest of sandwiches, wraps and salads plus of course, kombucha and cold-pressed juices. There’s also coffee (All Press) and vegan hot choccies served in the greatest takeways cups there has ever been. So there you have it Coasties, nothing will ever be the same again. Vegan or otherwise, don’t waste another day not being there to soak up the good vibes and get involved in all the delicious, delicious goods.
