The Burleigh Bleach* Club

Burleigh Heads is getting a pop up beach bar.

Burleigh Heads, home of all things (and people) fun and delightful, is getting something even more fun and delightful in the form of a pop up beach bar and that’s pretty much our lives complete Gold Coasters.

As part of Bleach* the Gold Coast Festival, The Burleigh Bleach* Club will be the Gold Coast’s first ever bar on the beach (somehow) and it’s going to be a very good time.

Think European summer meets our very own coastal chill (best) with deck chairs, day beds and stunning sunsets, all with toes in the sand and a beverage in hand (poem, you’re welcome).

The custom built bar will be the perfect viewing platform for musical performances by the likes of Montaigne and Mama Kin Spender plus the epic time that is Pub Choir and a host of other incredible shows.

Excitingly, Gold Coast faves The Collective Palm Beach have jumped on board to provide their usual next-level menu of tasty eats to enjoy pre or post show, or simply while you watch the sun set on Burleigh beach.

From mushroom and truffle arancini, vegetable gyoza and fresh Queensland peeled prawns, to a chicken quesadilla, gnocchi bolognese and a chicken deluxe burger, we’ll all be living our best lives as of April 17th friends.

ALSO, thanks to their fancy technological things, you can order food and drinks from your day bed via digital pay and go menus, there’s no need to leave the beach, all the goodies (including drinks) can be delivered to you while you laze about on the beach.

How good.

The Burleigh Bleach* club is a 500 person capacity bar and restaurant on the sand, it’s family-friendly and anyone can join in the fun. The bar will offer Burleigh Brewing’s Mid-Tide plus a range of Witches Falls house and premium wines, soft drink and many more tasty tipples.

If you’re keen for a view from the top, Bleach* has also created a Top Bar, found at Justin’s Park in Burleigh.

Make sure you pop down to the pop up (ha) for guaranteed good times friends.

We’re a lucky lot aren’t we.

LOCATION: Burleigh Heads beach
WHEN: Wednesday April 17th until Sunday April 28th from 2pm to 10pm daily.

Bleach* Festival 2019

Time flies when you live on the Gold Coast and pretty much everything around you is fun. It flies so fast in fact, that’s it’s time for Bleach* Festival again and the recently released 2019 program is bigger and better than ever.

The incredible festival once again combines local, national and international artists in 132 performances over 12 days in music, dance, opera, theatre, cabaret, circus and visual arts and it’s not to be missed (again).

Because fun and cultural stimulation is what we live for, we are here to discuss a few key things you should absolutely not miss at the 2019 Bleach* Festival.

The eighth annual festival runs from April 17th to 28th and signals a new era for the Coast while celebrating our unique culture with a jam-packed program spanning large-scale opera, award-winning dance, eye-popping cabaret, free live music, a thought- provoking political swimming carnival and a thrilling drive-in with a difference. That’s a lot.

Let’s begin by discussing our beloved Spiegeltent, back to dazzle us with its magnificence and a little circus-style show called Limbo Unhinged. It’s by the folks behind Blanc de Blanc and it’ll unleash pyrotechnics, sword-swallowing and aerial shenanigans against a pulsating live soundtrack from April 17th to May 12th. Fun.

Bleach* Festival’s centerpiece event, Verdi’s Requiem, shows on April 27 and, featuring more than 150 musicians and singers, will be performed under the stars, with HOTA’s outdoor stage transformed into a fiery ceremonial sanctuary.

Also premiering in 2019 is Water Songs, a musical concert series that will travel through the Gold Coast’s waterways. Minstrels will perform from the waterfront into backyards and public parks along canals, creeks and channels just doing their musical thing, which is obviously epic.

Townsville’s Dancenorth presents Tectonic, a free 15-minute performance installation staged twice a night and inspired by the plight of Torres Strait communities whose island homes will be consumed by rising sea levels. We hear it’s an absolute must-see.

Bleach* Festival once again welcomes long-time collaborators The Farm, a Gold Coast-based dance theatre company, to present Throttle, a drive-in live-action movie with a difference. It’s a b-grade thriller that plays out in front of an audience who are all safely hidden away in their cars, which sounds like a horror movie in itself to be honest but we’ll give it a whirl.

Closing out the festival will be a concert featuring the delightful Montaigne on Burleigh beach and we are definitely here for that.

That’s all we’re going to chat about for now but let it be known the entire program is filled with absolutely mind blowing performances, all of which you should make time to see.

There you have it, another exciting round of Bleach* Festival is about to begin.

It’s party time in a very literal sense people, The Collective has recently launched a catering service to bring five of the most loved restaurants on the Gold Coast to the people.

Complete with one of the best looking food trucks around (very important because Insta snaps), The Collective Catering offers menus from Luckies Diner, The Italian Job, The Kitchen, Calavera and Umami which means your next event is likely to be one of the most delicious there has ever been.

Whether you’re organising a cocktail party, social soiree, engagement party, wedding or even a corporate do, these guys have got you absolutely covered.

As you’d know, having frequented The Collective in Palm Beach on more than one occasion (obviously) there are about 9,000 delicious dishes to choose from in the way of Asian, Italian, Mexican, American and modern Australian and you are more than welcome to mix and match. Which we highly recommend obviously.

No doubt you’d also know that the team at The Collective are ALL about creating dining experiences to remember their catering service is absolutely no different. Imagine dining under the night sky with a beautifully appointed table and some of the tastiest food you can imagine, all prepared for you so you don’t have to lift a finger.

Just imagine – everything is lovingly prepared and served fresh and hot onsite to your guests. They’ll even provide all the glassware, crockery, cutlery and a killer service team so you can just sit back, relax and enjoy the good times! Sounds like a dream right come true.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a party without a fully stocked bar and one of the best bartenders around – so yep, you get that too. The Collective Catering team will keep the drinks topped up and the party flowing all night long.

Menus start from $65 per person and two-hour drinks packages start from $35 per person, based on a minimum of 100 people. They can however, cater from 50 people and up.
