Gather the girls, a Rosé festival is coming to the Coast

Mark the 1st of May in your calendars.

Rosé Coast (image supplied)

There are very few things more exciting than festivals centred around taste testing many different types of booze. Perhaps that’s something we shouldn’t admit but it’s true and if you feel the same way, read on.

BECAUSE, a rosé festival is coming to the Gold Coast and you friends, will have the chance to sample all the sweet, pink wine your heart desires. Which is probably a lot if you’re anything like us and also (yay) made it through 2020.

The festival is called Rosé Coast and it’s taking place on Saturday 1st May, set against the backdrop of beautiful Kurrawa Beach in Broady.

At the festival you’ll find an impressive line-up of Australian rosés alongside beers, ciders and cocktails and will be accompanied by a curated gourmet food menu (by Gold Coast legends, In Season Catering).

Rosé Coast will be showcasing a huge variety of the best rosé from over 20 wine growing regions across Australia, including prosecco, sparkling rosé, rosatos and frosé and of course, these will be complemented by alternative options like sparkling, red and white wine.

Brookie’s Byron Gin, Brix Distillers from Sydney, Matso’s Brewery and Gage Roads Brew Co. from WA, along with the Wine Selectors Discovery Bar will also make an appearance.

The matched food menu will see you indulging in locally sourced produce including cheese and charcuterie platters, freshly shucked oysters, burgers, seafood, Italian, gelato and more.

Sounds heavenly doesn’t it?

The ultimate beach party will also feature a range of beach games and masterclasses, including wine education and wine tasting in the Wine Selectors beach pavilion, including the legendary Silent Disco Drops, matching wine to music.

You can also awaken your inner artist at the Pinot & Picasso art classes, sand sculpting workshops, or simply relax and let endota spa Broadbeach look after you with a massage and skin consultation – all set to an upbeat soundtrack, with beats and tunes across the day from the resident Rosé Coast DJ.

See, what’s more exciting than all of that on one day? Not much Gold Coasters.

Tickets are from $49 per person and you can choose to upgrade to the exclusive VIP Beach Club presented by Chaffey Bros. from $139, which includes fast-tracked entry, access to the VIP Beach Club featuring a premium wine bar and endota spa Broadbeach massages and skin consultations.

Rosé Coast will run from 11am until 6pm so that’s plenty of time to get involved in everything. We absolutely cannot wait for this one.

Broadbeach scores a sweet new doughnut-slinging spot

Whoever invented doughnuts did the world a favour so big it can never be repaid.

Imagine someone just baking up a storm with their Nanna in the kitchen one morning, rolling leftover dough into shapes, dropping it into a pan and coating it in all of the sugar only to be rewarded with one of the tastiest flavour combinations ever known to man. Accidental genius (maybe).

A little while later (we did not research the timeline), icing was added, then SPRINKLES and recently, entire chocolate bars, flavour infusions, custard centres. It’s head spinning stuff.

Obviously we’re of the belief that the more doughnuts there are the better and so it brings us much happiness to report that Southport doughnut extraordinaires D Point 10 have opened up a second space in Broadbeach bringing their tasty creations to more lucky folks.

D Point 10 2.0 (that’s fun) can be found on the highway in the little precinct where Sushi Train also lives so you can grab some lunch and then some dessert and call it a very good day.

It’s a sweet little space with lots of natural light and pops of colour where you can sip Social Espresso brews while nibbling on many a variety of exceptional doughnut, which are baked fresh daily on site.

There are SO many amazing flavours to choose from starting with cinnamon and vanilla and moving on up to Nutella, jam and custard filled varieties.

Then there are flavours like Gaytime, Oreo, Ferrero and Red Velvet and they are the EXACT taste you would expect from such names and they are fluffy and perfect and we love them so much.

Oh Crème Brulee and Strawberries and Cream are winners too.

Honestly, they’re all so very good and we don’t know how they do it but the boys are slinging some of the best doughnuts on the Coast.

Do yourself a favour and get u to D Point 10 today, your tastebuds deserve a doughnut party do they not?

LOCATION: 2791 Gold Coast Hwy, Broadbeach

Wine is a beautiful thing: loved the world over and the perfect accompaniment to the next best thing in the world — cheese. Happily, the Gold Coast Hinterland is home to several world-class wineries, all of which are around an hour or less drive away. Pack your picnic blanket and make space in your boot for a case or two; here are the best cellar doors to take a sip at.

Witches Falls Winery
A self-proclaimed small but bold winery, Witches Falls are passionate about big tastes. Not only do owners Jon and Kim love the end product, but they’re also pretty keen on the growing, making and matching aspects of the fruity liquid. They offer personalised wine tastings that permit access to their entire range for $15 per person. And be sure to try their fantastic cheese board when you go!

Cedar Creek Estate
With a tree-lined entryway and lush green surroundings, Cedar Creek Estate is all your charming winery dreams come true. The vineyard consists of two varieties including Chambourcin and Verdelho, and even though the vines are relatively young, their Chambourcin in particular, is producing a fabulous Rose. Cedar Creek Estate also boasts the Arthur Hamblin Art Gallery, if sipping wine overlooking vineyards doesn’t fill your cultural cup entirely. As an added bonus, the Queensland Wine Centre is their store located on the premises. Featuring the largest range of Queensland’s wine under one roof it’s an impressive display of up to 100 wines from 16 of Queensland’s Premier Wineries.

Sarabah Estate Vineyard
Further along the Canungra Valley, before you begin to make your steep ascent up to O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, is this enchanted and sun-soaked vineyard and cellar door. The folks here wear many hats as viticulturists, alpacas herders, cheesemakers and gardeners: meaning there is plenty to see, do, eat, and drink! Weekends see their Chalet Bistro open for delicious lunches and the Smoke & Vine Bar is perfect for a stone-baked pizza — and of course a glass of wine (our pick being their 2018 organic shiraz).

Mount Nathan Winery
Mount Nathan Winery is a progression of the Gibson family’s involvement in the wine industry over generations. After developing a unique range of honey-based products in Cessnock, the winery was born. Award-winning wines include the Bubbly Brut – a not too dry and not too sweet sparkling – and the Autumn White – made up of late-picked grapes with explosions of fruit. If you’re visiting, wine tastings are direct from the barrel. Doesn’t get more authentic!

Situated a little past Beaudesert, this ten-year-old vineyard is a spectacular feast for the eyes. Jutting out on a small arm into Lake Wyaralong, you may be forgiven for thinking you’ve come across a place of fairy tales, but alas, you haven’t; this is a place of delicious food and fine wine! Expect some delectable menu choices from their weekend seasonal menu from The Two French Chefs, and their gourmet cafe with antipasto and grazing boards aplenty runs Wednesdays to Fridays. Hardy Spanish and Italian varietals flourish here, so be sure to try the wine for a taste of Europe without the jetlag.
