Chefs at Bazaar Marketplace, QT Gold Coast (image supplied)

Let’s be real, we all know Bazaar Marketplace at QT Gold Coast, but if it’s been a minute since you’ve indulged in this culinary playground, you’re in for a delicious reminder. This isn’t your typical buffet, Bazaar is a thirst quencher for the gastronomic explorer and culinary culture vulture. An interactive marketplace, where you get to watch chefs whip up fresh creations right in front of you, all while you customize your own dishes to suit your cravings. It’s the kind of dining experience where indulgence is not just encouraged—it’s required.

Open for breakfast, brunch and dinner, it’s similar to an amusement park, pay your entry fee and you’re free to discover and devour what’s on offer until your heart (or, in this case, stomach) is content. This place has always been top-tier, but they’ve dialled things up to an even higher level. Prepare to be blown away by what they’ve got cooking (literally).

Let’s start with the boujee brunch experience everyone’s raving about: Soul Sundays. Picture this: sunshine, your best mates, and QT-curated Malfy Gin cocktails in hand. This Sunday brunch is no ordinary affair—it’s a feast of house-made pastries, fresh smoothies, juices, a live omelette station, and so much more. If Instagram-worthy moments are your thing, you’re going to want to snap your way through this brunch experience. Plus, there’s a Director of Mixology on hand, ready to curate your perfect summer spritz. Talk about living la dolce vita!

Now, for dinner: it’s indulgence on a whole new level. Bazaar brings you a seafood spread that’ll make your heart (and stomach) sing. We’re talking about locally caught prawns, freshly shucked oysters, and a full-baked salmon that you’ll find difficult to resist. Friday and Saturday nights also roll out the Japanese Robata Grill where you can choose your meats (hello, steak or succulent skewers) and watch the chef cook them right in front of you. It’s like having your very own private chef experience.

And don’t get us started on the premium-grade food stations. The Bao Bun Station is loaded with fluffy buns begging to be filled with your fave ingredients. The Poke Bowl Station serves up fresh tuna and everything you need to create a colourful, delicious bowl.

Want pizza? No problem! Their Pizza Station has chefs on standby to cook your dream pie with all your favourite toppings.

Oh, but we’re not done yet. There’s also the free-flowing soft serve ice cream. Yep, endless swirls of soft serve with all the toppings you could dream of—sprinkles, sauces, you name it. But if you’re after something a little more elevated, their in-house pastry team has your back with OTT desserts that are as extravagant as they are delectable.

Bazaar is truly a place where indulgence and interactive dining go hand-in-hand. The chefs aren’t just behind the scenes; they’re front and centre, preparing dishes to your exact liking. Whether you’re there for dinner or brunch, the experience is dynamic and tailored just for you.

The Tropic, Burleigh Heads (image supplied)
The Tropic, Burleigh Heads (image supplied)

Ahh, the blessed ritual of brunch. Leisurely feasts of eggs every which way you can imagine, sticky, syrup-drenched French toast stacks, and smoked salmon for days – what’s not to love? Plus, it gives us the excuse to sleep in, and our taste buds are rewarded pretty handsomely for the trouble.

Couple it with a little concept known as bottomless cocktails, and life doesn’t get much better. So universally beloved is the sip-happy cousin of this mid-morning rendezvous, we’ve rustled up an entire list of the best places on the GC to get your boozy brunch-fest fix (say that five times fast after two hours of free-flowing mimosas).

From north to south, gather your mates, don your stretchy pants and jump on the brunch bandwagon!

Reason numero uno, is that they live and breathe this brekkie business. After all, the much-lauded namesake Melbourne location has the boasting rights to accolades like Café of the Year and Best Breakfast Restaurant. And when you’re in the mood to take the Chilli Scramble Croissant up a notch, they also throw a particularly spectacular bottomless brunch any ‘ole day of the week. For $55 per person, you can grab a main with endless mimosas for an hour, with Cranberry & Lime and Pineapple, Passionfruit & Lime options if you wanna switch it up from the Classic OJ. And ‘wine’ not, we say?

11 of the best Gold Coast buffets

Seafood at Harvest Buffet, The Star Gold Coast (image supplied)
Seafood at Harvest Buffet, The Star Gold Coast (image supplied)

The history of buffet style eating is a mixed affair. Its origins could be said to hark back to a mixture of cultures — from Asia to Europe. The ‘smorgasbord’ became internationally known as such at the 1939 New York World’s Fair exhibition, because the Swedes had to invent a new way of showcasing the best of Swedish food to large numbers of visitors. And the rest, as they say, is history…

Whoever can claim to have been responsible, we’re not fussed! The point is buffets — and smorgasbords — are amazing ways to reach newfound eating goals, and we’ve got quite a few exceptional ones right here on the Gold Coast. Happy binge eating, folks!

Is it ever too late for a cup of the good stuff? The haters will say yes, but the loyal bean lovers will argue otherwise and frankly – we agree!

For those who love themselves a coffee (isn’t that all of us?), getting yourself a cup of steamy — or icy — inspiration after 3pm is tough. We’re aware most cafes close around 1pm, or at a push 2pm. And that’s all perfectly well and fine. However, if your cravings for caffeine don’t have any sense of time, this situation undoubtedly causes you some unnecessary upset.

You want to organise an afternoon meeting but everywhere is closed? We hear you. Put down the Google search because we’ve done the heavy lifting and found the Gold Coast’s best spots serving up the good stuff after 3pm. These cafes recognise that coffee never sleeps and continue to serve it well into the afternoon, and in some cases, the evenings. So when those mid-afternoon caffeine withdrawals start to kick in, fear not, we got you.
