Your October new venue roundup

October is finished! You know what that means; November is here, Christmas is just around the corner and your life is flashing before your eyes.

As always, here’s a little roundup of everything we covered last month. It was a little bit quieter than we’ve come to expect but November is set to make up for that, and then some.

Double Barrel Kitchen
The second venue by the clever crew at Double Barrel Kitchen opened on the water at Benowa and has been absolutely inundated every day since. The menu is filled with tasty goodies, all beautifully presented and with everything from a bakery section (best) to fresh seafood dishes and a Pork Belly Bahn that’ll knock your socks off. Do yourself a favour and get down there this weekend.

Gallura Italian
Exceptional Italian fare was bestowed upon Tweed Heads last month in the form of Gallura Italian and aren’t they the lucky ones. Offering Sardinian, coastal-inspired eats with a focus on fresh seafood (again, how good), it’s some of the absolute finest Italian food we’ve ever sampled and we’re BIG FANS of Italian food. There’s a delightful Italian wine list and we highly recommend taste testing this one Gold Coasters.

Three Sons Coffee Cartel
A little hole-in-the-wall spot down Cooly way, Three Sons is serving up all local, everything. It was once a coffee cart (and still is actually) and their home-roasted brews are very good. There’s also baked goods from Burleigh Baker, a brunch menu made up of locally sourced goodies and stunning ocean views to complete a lovely little picture. Find it where Black Sheep Espresso Baa once lived.

The Doughnut Affair
Hello cocktail-infused doughnuts, oh how we love you. Yes friends, it’s true. How does a Pina Colada Doughnut sound? Champagne Strawberries and Cream maybe? Amazing right. The Doughnut Affair is serving up both of these and more as of right now within a stunning little space and they are some of the very best doughnuts we’ve ever sampled. We’re big doughnut fans too. Get some.

Frothin’ Bubbles
A little café with a big heart found out the back of Burleigh on Township Drive is newbie Frothin’ Bubbles. It’s the work of two local lads who aim to create an entirely sustainable café and that is so very great. They’re serving up delicious baked goods, wraps, paninis and of course, five-star coffee and you may sit outside in the sunshine with pretty flowers all around, enjoying one of each of those things if you so desire. Which we do.

Fig + Frankie’s
The newest of the newbies, Fig + Frankie’s opened down a little side alley in Broadbeach bringing share-style eats and a tasty slew of cocktails within a chic, intimate little setting. Think dishes like Truffle Honey Haloumi bites, Frankie’s Corndog and a delightful meat and cheese platter you’re absolutely going to want to try. The cocktails are numbered rather than named and they’re all worthy of your love and adoration. Don’t miss out on this beauty.
