There are a few things quintessential here in Australia that help denote the arrival of Spring: the sun begins to rise earlier in the mornings, magpies are lurking ready, and one of the most significant events of the year takes place — Melbourne Cup Day!

Held on the first Tuesday of November and part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, this race is the richest two-mile horse race in the world and attracts spectators not only from around the country but also the globe.

Recognised as a public holiday in Victoria, the event is loved so much for the glamourous parties that take place, it’s pretty much a public holiday everywhere else these days. And we can’t see anything wrong with that!

One place where you can catch all the excitement whilst choosing from a smorgasbord of different venues and offerings is, of course, The Star Gold Coast. Below we have broken down what’s on and what each celebration includes… don’t worry, you’ll be sure to pick a real winner.
