Former V8 Supercar driver and In the BackSeat Podcaster.
From the fast lane to the fight ring, Renee Gracie is no stranger to pushing boundaries. Once making history as Australia’s first full-time female V8 Supercar driver, she’s since built an empire off the track – dominating the digital world, launching a podcast, and making waves in the GT3 racing scene. Now, she’s stepping into an entirely new kind of arena: the boxing ring.
On 26 April 2025, Renee will swap the roar of the engine for the roar of the crowd at Podcast Royale 2.0 at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, going head-to-head with Summer Perry from The Dead Ass Podcast. In a night where podcasts turn to punches, these two will fight for the title in what promises to be an all-out spectacle of grit, determination, and pure entertainment.
We caught up with Renee to chat about her transition from racing to boxing, her podcast In the Back Seat, and what fuels her fire, both on the track and in the ring.
How long have you been a Gold Coast local?
I moved to the northern Gold Coast around 2013 and I loved it. I moved away to Melbourne for four years. I came back to the Gold Coast, bought a house not far from where I grew up on some acreage and absolutely loved it.
What do you love the most about the Gold Coast?
I love the relaxed lifestyle. Especially, where I live out on the property, it’s a relaxed country lifestyle but only a short distance from the water, great food, restaurants and shops.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am very easy going. I love animals, enjoy fishing and camping in my spare time. I enjoy learning, growing and being the best version of myself.
You’ve been a Porsche Carrera Cup and SuperCars driver, an adult entertainer, and now you’re stepping into the boxing ring. How did this come about?
I was approached by Alpha Events over a year ago and they asked if I would be interested. I have always been one to love trying new things. Pushing myself outside my comfort zone, and this was a perfect opportunity for me. Also to level up my fitness and try something challenging.
What’s been the biggest challenge in preparing for the fight?
Definitely the challenge I have with myself. I go through days where I get frustrated I am not picking something up or I struggle with a certain drill. I am very driven and competitive (in competition with myself). This can be tough at times!
Your podcast In the Back Seat is all about showing the real you. What inspired you to start it?
I have been blessed to share my story through my documentary, but over the years of meeting many people, I realised so many people go through tough times, and have incredibly inspiring stories, and I wanted to share my stories with others.
I always thought if I had space to go listen to other stories it would have helped me more through my tough times, so I decided to start the podcast to do this.
From racing to podcasting to boxing—you’ve never been afraid to switch lanes. What fuels your drive to keep pushing boundaries?
I don’t want to be stagnant. My biggest lessons have been from the biggest risks I have taken. Every opportunity I take on opens more and more doors for me. I meet new people and find inspiration from the people I meet.
There is so much to learn, so much to do in the world and I want to make sure I try and do as much as I can to better myself as a person.
Once the fight is over, what’s next—more racing, more podcasting, or a career in pro boxing?
Hopefully more racing. I will be starting season 2 of my podcast and I’ve really enjoyed boxing. I definitely plan to keep training to help with my fitness.
