What do you love the most about the Gold Coast?
What I love most about the Gold Coast is the sense of community and support. The unique energy here makes it a place where local businesses lift each other up, and the environment is just beautiful.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m originally from Sydney and started my career as an Interior Stylist after studying at Coco Republic. My journey has taken me from being a marketing manager for Aston Martin on the Gold Coast to running a destination farm with my husband in the Scenic Rim, and now to founding STYLD. Personally, I’m a mom who loves starting her day with yoga or Pilates and spending quality time with family.

For those who might not know, what is STYLD., and what sets it apart?
STYLD. is a brand I founded in 2023 to provide stylish, sustainable tableware that elevates both indoor and outdoor gatherings. What sets us apart is our focus on fun, functionality, and sustainability, aiming to make every occasion memorable while minimizing waste.

Your latest collection, Baby, Let’s Go Outside, sounds exciting! What inspired it, and what can we expect from this range?
The Baby, Let’s Go Outside collection was inspired by the need for unbreakable, reusable plateware and drinkware for outdoor dining. You can expect innovative designs that blend practicality with style, perfect for alfresco dining experiences.

On the flip side, what have been your proudest moments or milestones so far?
One of my best moments lately was when I saw a local couple enjoying a sunset picnic at my favourite beach. So effortlessly chic and they were using my Unbreakable Silicone Goblets. They were toasting their private moment, completely unaware that I was the creator – it was a very surreal experience. Additionally, seeing my kids use our Petal Goblets as dessert cups nightly makes all the effort worthwhile.

If you could go back to the very beginning of your STYLD. journey, what’s one piece of advice you’d give yourself?
I would tell myself to collaborate only with people who genuinely believe in our vision of sustainability without compromising on design. Staying focused on this principle would make navigating the influencer world smoother.

We’re gearing up to launch our second Baby, Let’s Go Outside collection in 2025 and can’t wait to introduce more of our fun, multifunctional designs like the trademarked PLACEKIN. In 2025, we’re all about growing, spreading the word, and bringing more joy to your table -one stylish and sustainable setting at a time!

How do you choose to spend your days off?
I kick off my day with some yoga or Pilates to get the good vibes flowing. After that, it’s all about family time and good friends! We might hit up the local beaches for some sun and sand or catch up with friends for an açai at Rafiki. There’s nothing like soaking up the beauty of the Gold Coast and making every moment count.

Elyse Middleton is proof that creativity, grit, and a dash of good timing can take you places—like straight to the top of the accessories game. At just 32, this Sunshine Coast native has carved out her own stylish corner of the fashion world as the founder of Nim The Label, all while raising two kids. Talk about multitasking!

If the name doesn’t ring a bell, her creations definitely will. No doubt spotted her ultra-stylish waterproof bags slung over shoulders at the beach, the shops or a summer event. They’re the perfect blend of style and functionality, designed for anyone who wants their fashion to keep up with their lifestyle without compromising on looks.

Elyse’s journey hasn’t been a straight runway to success – it’s been more like a creative detour with a few outfit changes along the way. From sketching schoolgirl fashion dreams to ditching the sewing machine and picking up a graphic design degree, she’s been remixing her passions into entrepreneurial gold for years. Remember those monochrome baby milestone cards that everyone on Insta was obsessing over? Yep, that was her first hit. And when her Chinese shower slides blew up on social media, Elyse didn’t just ride the wave, she turned it into a whole vibe with Nim Soles.

Fast forward to today, and her brand has blossomed into Nim The Label, a chic mashup of practicality and elevated design. In this interview, Elyse shares the story behind Nim The Label, from the lightbulb moment that sparked the idea for a do-it-all bag, to how she’s championing sustainable practices in design and production. She also lets us in on her creative icons, her love of interior design, and what exciting plans are on the horizon for her growing brand.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Elyse Middleton and I’m 32, a wife, mother of 2 and the founder and designer of Nim The Label. I was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast and prior to Nim I was a graphic designer.

I’m a hard worker and have great attention to detail but an absolutely terrible planner and easily distracted by spontaneous inspiration that usually hits at the most inconvenient times! I love what I do and feel so grateful everyday for the ability to contribute financially to my family whilst still being present for our children and having my own creative outlet.

What inspired you to start Nim The Label?
I was not a handbag person at all and just wanted one bag that could do it all. I had this idea for a chic waterproof bag that I just couldn’t let go and eventually decided to go for it, which turns out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. Nim is like my 3rd baby!

Sustainability is a big conversation in fashion right now. How does Nim the Label approach sustainable design and production?
We are continually working towards improving our sustainability efforts where possible, through both the design of our products and their production and distribution. We have always shipped our products plastic free, using only recycled, biodegradable and reusable materials. We also produce in smaller batches and any damaged or imperfect stock is kept and then sold at our annual seconds sale, which helps us to eliminate production waste.

Who are some of your personal fashion icons or creative inspirations?
We’re currently building our family home so I’m deep in the interior design world at the moment and obsessed with everything Kelly Wearstler does. I find her mix of different materials, colours and textures really inspiring.

What’s next for Nim the Label?
I’ve been working on a new bag shape to add to our lineup which I’m really excited about. We’re also planning on opening our first pop up in 2025 so stay tuned for that one!

Meet Isabella Araujo

Isabella Araujo founder of Brazil Born (Image supplied)

Isabella Araujo is the powerhouse behind Brazil Born, a brand that blends Brazilian beach vibes with activewear that’s as stylish as it is sustainable. Originally from Brazil, Isabella moved to Australia in 2013, on a mission to find the perfect bikini. When she couldn’t, she created her own! With a mix of samba, sunshine, and a love for the ocean, Isabella launched Brazil Born to bring the vibrant energy of Brazilian swimwear to Australia.

A former lawyer turned entrepreneur, she’s fueled by coffee, creativity, and passion. Whether she’s practicing yoga, hiking, or enjoying the Gold Coast beaches, Isabella designs with one goal: to make women feel confident, free, and ready for adventure.

How long have you been a Gold Coast local?
I moved to the Gold Coast from Melbourne at the end of 2021. Originally from Brazil, I’ve proudly called Australia home for over 11 years.

What do you love most about the Gold Coast?
While the weather is undeniably amazing, what I love most is what it brings out in people. People are happy, in a good and friendly mood. The lifestyle here is incredible. We’re encouraged to enjoy the day, be healthy, and stay active.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born in Brazil with an Italian and Portuguese background. So you could say I’ve got a mix of samba and pasta running through my veins. I am a former lawyer (since 2004) and came to Australia for the first time in 2013. The beach and ocean have always been my happy place—they’re where I feel most alive. Anything that connects me to them fills my soul. For me, staying active and surrounded by nature isn’t just a preference; it’s the secret to staying grounded and inspired.

Although I’m a country girl at heart, I lived my dream life in Balneário Camboriú, Brazil, where office hours ended with windsurfing and paddleboarding sessions in the ocean. These days, I’m lucky enough to call the Gold Coast home, where I’ve crafted a lifestyle that feels just as magical. Staying active is a big part of who I am, whether it’s yoga, pilates, hiking, or pretending I know what I’m doing at the gym. I believe in feeling comfortable and looking great while working out or enjoying the beach. That’s part of what inspires me to design swimwear and activewear for Brazil Born. It’s my baby and my passion—honestly, it doesn’t even feel like work (most of the time).

Tell us a bit about Brazil Born.
Back in 2013, while living in Melbourne, I found myself on a mission—I couldn’t find bikinis with that iconic Brazilian cut I loved. Fast forward to 2018, now living permanently in Australia, after countless hours of research (and a little trial and error), I returned from a trip to Brazil with extra bikinis stuffed into my suitcase. I started sharing them with friends at my gym, and before I knew it, demand was soaring.

It wasn’t long before I expanded into Brazilian activewear, and that’s how Brazil Born came to life. It’s been an incredible journey full of growth, creativity, and endless passion. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a single thing—it’s been worth every step.

Image description: a woman sits happily on the size of a pool, she's glowing, wearing a stunning black swim suit.

How is your range different from other brands?
Brazil Born is all about bringing the vibrant energy and unparalleled style of Brazilian swimwear and activewear to Australia. Our pieces are thoughtfully crafted with a focus on quality, sustainability, and ethics—because looking amazing shouldn’t come at a cost to the planet or its people.

What sets us apart is the heart behind every design. We’ve built great relationships with talented Brazilian suppliers, ensuring that every piece reflects the authenticity and craftsmanship Brazil is known for. Over the years, we’ve also started designing exclusive collections locally, blending that unmistakable Brazilian flair with the laid-back, sun-kissed vibe of the Gold Coast.

At Brazil Born, we don’t just create swimwear and activewear; we create confidence. Our mission is to help you feel your absolute best—whether you’re chasing waves, hitting the gym, practicing yoga, or simply soaking up the sunshine.

What has been the biggest opportunity and/or challenge so far in launching Brazil Born?
The biggest opportunity was starting the business as an online store in 2018 and maintaining our online presence and customers.

In 2020, we opened a permanent physical store in Sorrento, VIC, which had to close for over seven months due to lockdowns. Having already established an online business kept us afloat during that challenging time.

The biggest challenge has been balancing the need for both online and physical presence. Deciding between online and in-person presence. I loved having a store—it’s hard to beat chatting with customers face-to-face—but online has its own magic too.

What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?
Building a business isn’t about rushing to the finish line—it’s about growing thoughtfully and sustainably, taking one step at a time.

Every move you make, no matter how small, plays a vital role in the bigger picture. Embrace each moment, celebrate the progress, and always remind yourself why you started. Remember, the process is just as valuable as the destination. Enjoy every step of the ride.

What can we expect from Brazil Born in the next year?
In 2025, we’re all about growth and expansion. Our goal is to collaborate with brilliant, creative minds who share our passion for artistic expression. We’re excited to bring fresh perspectives to the table and build something truly special together.

Expect to see bold new collections that draw inspiration from art, passion, and pure creativity—because we believe fashion should be an expression of who you are and the world around you.

Café:
Commune Café, Paddock Bakery, and Pasture & Co.
Restaurant: Rabbath Lebanese Bistro, Siblings, and Tommy’s.
Bar: Rosella’s and The Exhibitionist.
Beach: Burleigh and Rainbow Bay.

How do you choose to spend your days off?
On my days off,  you’ll always catch me in Brazil Born pieces (of course!). Whether I’m at the beach, doing yoga, hiking, or chasing waterfalls in the hinterland, I’m all about soaking up the natural beauty of the Gold Coast.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a mum of 3 with a degree in marketing and previously a fashion designer and a social media coach. I have owned and worked in businesses for a long time before creating my own styling content business, which I love. Both hubby and I are entrepreneurs and love to travel, we are lucky enough to have built businesses and life that allows us to work around the world.

You’re one of our go-tos for outfit inspiration. How did you get started as a content creator?
Oh, thank you so much. My content creation started off by sharing my daily outfits whilst working in one of our businesses (real estate). It was a way to share how I was rediscovering my style after having kids, a journey so many women find after having kids and changing careers that our wardrobes and personal style changes so much.
