PRICE: Free entry
After an explosive set at the Gold Coast’s favourite dive bar of the apocalypse earlier this month, Super Massive will make a welcome return to Saturday Funk Night at Last Night on Earth in Southport on Saturday 7 December from 8:30pm. Entry is free.
Expect a kaleidoscope of creative, electro-laced, disco-spliced, funk-drenched alternative pop songs, lovingly delivered with the kind of visceral thrill you get from a slamming rock band.
Super Massive is the collaboration of singer/songwriter Malina Hamilton-Smith and drummer/composer/producer Glenn Abbott (formerly of platinum-selling band Machine Gun Fellatio and currently of Disco Disciples). The duo formed Super Massive when they discovered a shared love of vintage 70’s funk and disco, and a common vision of creating a true 50/50 blend of electronic dance music and rock.
Their sound is a unique blend of multi-layered synthscapes and dance floor beats with live instrumentation that lies somewhere between Led Zeppelin and Daft Punk or Basement Jaxx, with elements of Depeche Mode, Garbage, Chic, Brothers Johnson, The Divinyls, Florence & The Machine and Muse.
Live, the duo are joined by guitarist Tyr Kovacic, (aka The Disco Jesus) who brings the blistering funk and rock guitar that makes up a big part of their unique dance rock sound.
Catch them LIVE on Saturday 7 December at Last Night on Earth from 8:30pm!
