But first, Croffee in Southport

Bringing you the revolutionary Croffle (croissant + waffle).

When it comes to innovative foodstuffs, we’re all ears. Sampling at all the delicious — and finger on the pulse — cafes, eateries, restaurants on the Gold Coast is, of course, a rite of passage. However, when it comes to pushing the boundaries and trying culinary delights a little left of centre, this is where things truly get exciting.

D Point Ten are certainly no strangers to the masses who adore their doughnuts. These guys have successfully opened a slew of outlets across the Coast slinging their tasty treats and indeed show no sign of slowing their operations. So when the dessert-trusty team has an ‘outside of the box’ foodie idea, we the (lucky) public listen! Enter their newly opened coffee and pastry space in Southport — Croffee.

For those with a keen eye, you’ll notice the name is either a typo or, in fact, the amalgamation of the words croissant and coffee. Ok, so pay attention here folks, what makes Croffee so special? This is where things get a little freaky. The concept is simple: Croffee is taking a delightfully fresh and baked in-house croissant and then, with the help of a waffle iron, transforming it into a waffle — and voila, what you then have, is the first of its kind — a Croffle!

Are you a lover of croissants but also worship waffles? Then this is your chance to experience the best of both worlds. The flaky and salty sweetness of the former blended with the crunchy square texture you know and admire of the latter.

The defining aspect of these tasty little creations is the variety of toppings one can choose from.

If you’re a classic type of eater, then the Plain Croffle or Cinnamon Sugar-Coated Croffle paired with an Iced Latte should do the trick.

If you prefer things a little more indulgent, then the Fresh Cream and Strawberries Croffle or Burnt Butter Glaze and Pistachio Croffle are sure-fire ways to answer your sweet cravings.

The list goes on of both sweet and savoury varieties, and as time goes by, new toppings and special editions will be coming on the scene — even more reason for you to keep on coming back!

With a couple of tables cleverly positioned outside on Nerang Street to catch the morning and afternoon sun, it doesn’t matter what time of day you drop by to relax with a coffee and Croffle of your choice.

Either way, this newly revealed sweet sensation is going to be exactly what your tastebuds asked for.

D Point Ten

Turns out dreams really do come true. Specifically those of the round sugary variety and even more specifically if they involve Southport. Yep.

Form an orderly queue dessert lovers, because a delightful donut store opened up that way recently and their creations are Gods gift to all of us.

D Point Ten can be found on Stevens Street and, in keeping with the general donut vibe, is a little hole in the wall space pumping out the freshest of donuts we may have ever excitedly shoved into our greedy mouths. In all the best flavours no less.

Think Gaytime goodness, Ferrero Rocher, Passionfruit (LOVE), Oreo, Tim Tam, Salted Caramel, Strawberry with M & M’s, the list goes on.

Yes, all the very best flavours in the world have come together in sweet, circular desserts that will actually knock your socks off. Bye diet.

Owners Henry Kim and Dean Jeong met while working together a few years ago and dreamed a few donut dreams. They began wholesaling their goodies from a commercial kitchen not long after and when the Southport space became available, they went for it.

Lucky for us.

The pair are in store at 3am every morning whipping up their creations and that is a level of dedication we have never experienced.

D Point Ten are also serving up Social Brew coffee to keep things local, so you can pretend to go in for a morning brew and then treat yo’self to a donut or two.

In case you’re interested in fun facts, the shop got it’s name from starting out with 10 flavours, plus promising customers they’d only keep donuts for 10 hours to ensure freshness and of course, producing 10 out of 10 goods.

Happy, holey days friends.

LOCATION: 6/1 Stevens St, Southport
HOURS: Open from 6am until sold out (eek)
