Few places can effortlessly blend fine dining with carefree beach vibes, but the new Cora does exactly that. Anchored in Broadbeach, this new jewel from Moreton Hospitality takes over the coveted space once home to Miss Moneypenny’s. Cora is a place where tides of Mediterranean-inspired cuisine meet waves of Australian spirit, creating an experience as unforgettable as a sunset over the Coral Sea.

At Cora, the vibrant reefs of the Coral Sea are the inspiration behind this coastal gem. Situated inside the The Beach Hotel Broadbeach, the team at Moreton Hospitality has created an interior that marries the serene beauty of the South Pacific and the Gold Coast. Expansive windows invite in the golden coastal light, and the timber ceiling and natural materials infuse the space with a breezy atmosphere. The seamless blend of indoor and outdoor spaces captures the essence of seaside lifestyle, making it the perfect spot to dock for a long lunch, an intimate dinner or a fancy feast.

Executive Chef Tapos Singha’s menu dives deep into the region’s treasures, showcasing dishes that celebrate the harmony of land, sea and local artisans. Emphasising balance, the offerings are share-style plates that indulge the senses while nourishing the body and soul.

Negroni Sashimi elevated with Beefeater gin, Campari, and vermouth sashimi slices, served with a vermouth sauce. Prepare your palette for the ultimate feast with Rainbow Trout Pâté that is perfectly paired with pickled cucumber, finger lime and caviar, giving a burst of fresh, zesty flavour.

Medium plates continue to impress with scallops and prawn mousse served with tempura zucchini flower, lemon aspen and for something more land-based, Margra Lamb Tartare brings earthy Australian flavours to the table with kohlrabi, fermented chili and saltbush.

Mains are an ocean of indulgence with Australian Bay Lobster Bucatini, a luscious pasta dish with garlic, lemon and crustacean oil, or reel in a Whole King George Whiting stuffed with scallop mousse, black garlic and trout caviar.

Carnivores will be pleased with Jack’s Creek Wagyu Rump Cap MBS7+, a decadent 200g cut served with parsnip, pickled shimeji and jus. Or the Whole Spatchcock with Warrigal greens, yesterday’s bread sauce and aged balsamic.

For the adventurous diner, Cora’s tasting menu at $79 per person offers a five-course journey, showcasing the chef’s finest selections served progressively for the whole table to enjoy.

Make sure you save room for dessert as you need to order the signature Cora dessert, Peach Melba with strawberry gum, white chocolate mousse, blood peach sorbet, and raspberry. For something a little more indulgent try the Tiramisu martini of baileys, kahlua, cacao shaken with fresh cream, white chocolate syrup, coffee and egg white.

Let’s not forget the drinks! Cora has an extensive cocktail list that is a voyage in itself! The Love Province blends campari and amaro montenegro shaken with fresh lime, grapefruit and orange juice, thyme and grapefruit syrup topped with Bundaberg ginger beer.

For a tropical escape, the Blazing Oasis mixes Plantation 3 stars rum and Plantation pineapple rum shaken with fresh lime, pineapple and guava juice, passionfruit puree, falernum topped with Plantation OFTD rum and cinnamon. It’s a holiday in a glass!

Breathing new life into a Broadbeach favourite, The Beach Hotel has taken over the iconic site once home to Fat Freddy’s. Start with freshly shucked oysters or the melt-in-your-mouth Hiramasa kingfish sashimi, elevated with yuzu kosho, blood orange, white soy, and shiso. Seafood lovers will be just as hooked on main dishes like Singapore chilli mussels or king prawn bucatini with cherry tomato, prawn bisque, chilli, capers, and garlic.

Craving pub grub? All the classics are here, including crispy fish and chips and hearty chicken parmigiana. Those looking to spice up their summer will want to dip into the birria jaffa toastie, filled with chipotle-braised short ribs, Mexican cheese, pico de gallo, corn chips, and birria beef broth.

Let’s not forget the hand-stretched pizzas that will also hit the spot, like the Nduja with prawns, buffalo mozzarella, tomato, onion, basil and hot honey, or the Wild Funghi with rocket, fior di latte, parmesan, candied walnut and truffle oil.

No summer session is complete without a cocktail or two (or more! We won’t judge!), and The Beach Hotel’s mixologists know how to bring you sunshine in a glass. The Cheeky Marg Your Way lets you customise your margarita, from tropical coconut to passionfruit punch, and can even be served frozen for those scorching heatwave days. Meanwhile, the Golden Hour Sour will go down as smooth as the setting sun.

Broadbeach’s hottest new haunt is flamin’ grill-i-ant

Something grill-iant has been a ‘cookin in Broadbeach, with the eagerly anticipated arrival of kōst Bar & Grill set to swing open its swanky new digs this Saturday.

A brand new spot for sophisticated sips taking up residence in the Oracle Blvd precinct will lure us in with the hypnotising aroma of flame-grilled food and an equally enticing facade.

A contemporary bar & grill concept, boasting one of the city’s only charcoal wood-fire grills, this mammoth new space is set to redefine the way we meet and eat in Broadbeach.

Along with seafood towers, roving champagne and caviar trolleys, and a purpose-built dry aged cool room that can be seen (drooled over) from Oracle Boulevard, our wining and dining game is about to cop a serious upgrade.

A meticulous project three years in the making for hospitality honcho Dave Galvin, kōst is the ultimate culmination of 25 years of hospitality experience all poured into one shiny, sleek and sexy venue.

After already bringing us faves such as Crafty’s, Mozza Mozza and Bird Royale, Dave has really been playing the long game to ensure kōst is a show stopper in every sense of the word.

The brief was to deliver a coastal inspired, design led space with a sensory immersion through food, wine, cocktails and live fuel cooking methods — with the first two-metre Mibrasa charcoal grill and oven in Australia the venue’s crowning jewel.

Dave adds “I have always been a huge fan of charcoal and live fuel cooking and dining in a beautifully designed venue. These are just two of my passions that were part of the inspiration for creating Kōst. After an extensive search, we finally managed to find the perfect location where we could bring this concept to life.”

Seizing the opportunity to snap up three previous tenancies, kōst has amalgamated the sites into one sprawling super-venue.

The luxurious space boasts an impressive 130-seat restaurant, in addition to private dining room, bar dining and outdoor pavilion spaces.

Though the space is just as pretty as it is functional, with cascading greenery, marble surfaces, chic lighting and arches a-plenty.

Returning to Australia this year to oversee the culinary direction for kōst, Executive Chef Sebbie Keynon developed the entire menu, bringing inspiration from restaurants across the globe in Paris, London, Moscow and Jakarta.

The trademark theme of relaxed luxury is also carried through the menu, with top shelf produce elevated with a little help from the signature wood-fire treatment.

Treat yourself to everything from boujee ‘bar snacks’ like coal roasted potato, labne, smoked roe, through to the roll of the moment, bay lobster roll, gem lettuce, kōst signature sauce, and the premium Australian wood-fired lobster where 24 hours notice is required #worththewait.

There’s a full suite of premium seafood with options like the Raw Bar, and dishes such as kōst ceviche, citrus rressing and a prawn cocktail, kōst signature sauce revival, through to the seafood platter and seafood tower when it’s truly time to indulge.

Though, how coal-d you skip the kōst specialty ‘Over Embers’ offering, with a full selection of ocean, land and earth delights to spark a whole lot of culinary joy?

Even the drinks get the grill treatment, with a Mahalorita, 1800 coconut Tequila, Cointreau, charred pineapple, toasted coconut, lime, smoked salt we’d be tempted to walk over hot coals to get our hands on.

Though it might come at great kōst to our social budgets and waistlines — we’re tipping that pretty soon, reflecting on Broadbeach’s eats scene will be defined as a whole new era: before-kōst and after-kōst, with this impressive new venue set to steal the show.

If you love to wine, dine and shop you’ll love Broadbeach. If you prefer to surf, laze in the sun or strut along beachfront esplanades, you’ll also love Broadbeach. From cult-followed cafes to shiny new eats, boujee bars and shopping boutiques, this burb’s an A-grade entertainer that shines bright in the eyes of locals and visitors alike.

There are many reasons locals – and Gold Coasters far and wide – love a bit of Broady, but here are 15 to get you started.

The Star Gold Coast
If ever there was a reason to call up the babysitter, it’s for a session at The Star. Here, you’re greeted with live music and a melange of premium food options- you won’t need to go anywhere else. Start with a few bevvies at the Atrium Bar before choosing your cuisine for the night. Will it be the fresh Garden Kitchen & Bar or the award-winning Cantonese at Uncle Su’s? Why not taste Tokyo right on the Gold Coast at Kiyomi, authentic Italian eats at Cucina Vivo or the ultimate buffet experience at Harvest Buffet? Or maybe you’re looking for the chic rooftop bar at Nineteen at The Star or a sneaky drink at the new look Veladora?

Dracula’s Cabaret Restaurant
If you’re after a tried and tested, long-standing comedy cabaret, good ‘ole Dracs has been serving up frights, food and frivolity since we were all ankle-biters. Most people are sold when they hear there’s a ghost train alone, let alone the actual show, which changes every so often, so there’s always a reason to go back! Enjoy a quality 3-course dinner and a menu of magical and mystical cocktails and shots!
Where: Hooker Boulevard, Broadbeach

Social Eating House + Bar
If you consider yourself a gastronome, then this Oracle Blvd darling is for you. Social serves modern Australian flavours in a casual meets fine dining setting. For this, they’ve secured more hats than a Milliner’s workshop and have just won 3 glasses at the 2024 Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards. This comes as no surprise with Executive Chef Matthew Jefferson in charge. With a recently refreshed menu (promised to please even the most refined palates), you’ll experience a carefully curated range of bar snacks, charcuterie, and small and large share plates featuring the finest Australian ingredients and paired to perfection.

Blues on Broadbeach
Unlike our other listings, this one’s not here 24/7. However, it’s that much of a Broady icon that it would be criminal not to throw it a mention. As the name suggests, it brings us world-class blues music and jazz from locals and famous acts alike, performing across multiple venues over four unforgettable days. And it’s free. When does that ever happen?!
Where: Various Broadbeach venues

Elk Espresso
This place has never met an empty table; it’s constantly bulging at the seams with raving fans. Of course, we are one of such fans. Just a hop, skip and a jump from the beach, the coffee is all-time, the menus are seasonal and heavenly, and they do a Boozy Bottomless Brunch. And sold!
Where: The Oasis Shopping Centre, 12 Victoria Avenue, Broadbeach

The Oasis
It’s an everyday escape for locals, and one of our top shopping centres on the coast (for good reason). The Oasis is home to stunning fashion boutiques, and the number of fabulous eateries at hand is impressive in of itself. In addition to the ones we highlight in this article, we’re talking Mario’s, Madison’s Café and Patisserie, Spice Kitchen and Bar, and The Broadbeach Tavern, to name just a few. It’s a #OneStopShop.
Where: 75 Surf Parade, Broadbeach

Broadbeach Bowls Club
Ahhh, good old lawn bowls. The game that never fails to deliver a good time. If you’re looking for the best way to spend a chill arvo on the GC, it’s with a game of barefoot bowls, brew in hand at Broadbeach Bowls Club. When you’re finished, they have a full bistro menu waiting with big portions of all your go-to pub-grub meals. They also have a canape package perfect for a laid-back birthday or celebration.

kōst Bar & Grill
Just over a year old, yet kōst has already wriggled its way onto our hot list… sneaky bugger. Just kidding, they’re here for a reason, and credit is due! The contemporary style bar and grill is perfect for sophisticated sips, flame-grilled eats and boujee’ bar snacks’, all within a relaxed-luxury setting. Champagne with a side of caviar, anyone?
Where: 3 Oracle Blvd, Broadbeach

No Name Lane
Well, if it isn’t No Name Lane making a name for themselves as Blake Lively’s favourite coffee. In her exact words “”the best coffee of her life”. We can attest to this, alongside the cafe’s cult local following. Not only are they adored for their cuppa, but their all-day breakfasts and gourmet lunches also go down a treat so if you haven’t been, remedy this immediately.

Kurrawa Surf Club
Ocean views don’t come any better than this. With legit THE most prime location, Kurrawa Surf Club has everything you’d want from a Surf Club…and more. With awesome regular members specials and fresh ingredients, there’s no such thing as a bad meal here. They host a trivia night and live music, and of course there’s the obligatory gaming lounge for those who like a flutter.
Where: Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach

CHA CHA Japanese Restaurant
Gold Coasters have been CHA CHA bound for an authentic Japanese nosh-up which won’t break the bank for years, and that’s not about to change any time soon. The banquet menu is divine and every visit you’ll experience the same level of scrumptiousness. But the soy on the dim sum…it’s BYO and it’s hard to find an already affordable yet high-quality restaurant offering our 3 favourite letters. Score.
Where: 2705 Gold Coast Highway, Broadbeach

Pacific Fair, Broadbeach (image supplied)

Pacific Fair
This list wouldn’t be complete without mention of THE queen. Pacific Fair (aka Pac Fair) is any Gold Coasters first point of call when a new ensemble or therapy (retail or other) is required. It has every retailer you could possibly wish for, fabulous food options and indisputably the most gorgeous fit-out you’ve ever seen. Nothing rivals it.
Where: Gold Coast Hwy and Hooker Blvd, Broadbeach

Costa Taco
You bet we did a happy dance when news broke that our fav taqueria from Palm Beach had opened a third location in Broady (the second was Byron). For us, and many (most) Gold Coasters, it was a love at first bite. Costa Taco stole our taste buds with their authentic, flavour-filled eats and there was no turning back. And why would we? You would have to be coco to say no no to coconut margaritas?

The Lamb Shop
In a pita shell, you’re getting bangin bar snacks and succulent souvlaki- what’s not to love? After a long day on Broadbeach beach (presumably), when you’re feeling sun-kissed and salt wrapped, is there anything better than biting into a tangy lamb-filled pita wrap to replenish exerted energy? No! The Lamb Shop’s entire menu is prepared in-house daily, using only fresh local produce, premium cuts and authentic grilling techniques. That’s why we love em!
Where: 1 Oracle Blvd, Broadbeach

The Beach Hotel Broadbeach
There’s no better place to snag a seat and sink a beer (or a Golden Hour Sour) on a Saturday arvy than at the brand new The Beach Hotel in Broadbeach. The airy spaces and indoor-outdoor flow let the sea breeze carry through the beer garden into the public bar. The vibe is set to ‘summer chill’, eats are delish, sips are refreshing and every corner is designed for the perfect gathering with your pals. After some spirited fun, head inside Cora, a restaurant within The Beach Hotel, where fine dining and a laid-back atmosphere come together to deliver palate-pleasing Mediterranean-inspired bites and crisp, cool drinks. Don’t mind if we do.
