Imagine a life without caffeine. Horrible right? How would one get through the day? Unthinkable. Let’s all take a moment to be grateful for caffeine.
Luckily, we of the Gold Coast, need never think about a lack of caffeine again because we of the Gold Coast have abundant options when it comes to exceptional brews.
Particularly in Burleigh Heads which is what we’re here to discuss. Here’s a list of the nine best spots to get your caffeine fix in the Burleigh area and you are welcome.
Canteen Coffee & Kitchen
A firm favourite in the coffee game, Canteen has been touted as one of Australia’s premier espresso bars. They brew their own blends, sourcing in season beans and roasting fresh daily on demand. Canteen offers a Signature Espresso Blend with notes of chocolate, berries, toffee and spice and Single Origins, which change weekly. They certainly know their stuff, highly recommend.

So good they’ve got two locations in Burleigh, Nook offers little spaces with a big passion for coffee. They’ve been slinging tasty brews since 2008 and are very much loved by the local community. Nook offers a smooth cuppa that’s consistently delicious and the crew is as stoked as they come to be involved in your morning coffee routine. Plus if you head to their beachside location you can sip your drink overlooking the ocean. Best.

Quest Coffee Roasters
The smell wafting out of Quest alone will draw you in and, once you’re in, you may never want to leave. The space is half micro-roastery, half sitting-down-to-enjoy-your-coffee space and it’s an absolute must-visit if you’re a lover of excellent brews. They roast premium Arabica beans on James Street and if you’re in the market you can purchase their green and roasted beans or a blend. Make sure you have a chat to the team; they love to discuss all things coffee.
Where: 20 James Street, Burleigh Heads
Middle child in a trio of Gold Coast coffee faves, Borough is a little hole in the wall space overlooking Burleigh beach and serving up some very tasty specialty coffee on the daily. They use Story coffee, a local blend that’s complex, sweet and lively with blackcurrant and tropical fruit, so all of the things. It’s a good one gang. The Borough gang are huge lovers of coffee too so you know they’ll be bringing their best effort, each and every time.
Where: 14 The Esplanade, Burleigh Heads
Run by a couple of absolute local legends, Commune Espresso has been around for as long as we can remember and for as long as we can remember, they’ve been serving up some of the tastiest brews around. The space itself is epic too, complete with lots of outdoor relaxing areas and a ping pong table to use up that caffeine induced energy. They also make their own almond milk, that’s how dedicated they are to delicious coffee.
Where: 1844 Gold Coast Hwy, Burleigh Heads
Serving up their very own brew, Burleigh Social are another lot passionate about next-level coffee. Plus, they’re giving it to us lucky locals in their backyard-style setup, which is an absolute delight. Pull up a spot in the sunshine under an umbrella and we venture to guess you’ll never want to leave. Oh and the space is dog friendly too so you can take your mate and order cuppas all day long, guilt free. Double win.
Where: 2 Hibiscus Haven, Burleigh Heads
Found overlooking the ocean in North Burleigh, Nectar is an actual hole in the wall at the local surf club. They’re serving up the Gold Coast’s famed Blackboard Coffee and they sure do know how to make an excellent cup. As you’d no doubt know, Blackboard Coffee is the work of local lad Nick Pierce and his beans are used in cafes across the Coast. For good reason. They’re some of the best around and we can claim them as our own. Delicious, always.
Where: North Burleigh Surf Club, 293 The Esplanade, North Burleigh
Offering quite the selection of bean blends, Social Brew, in the heart of Burleigh, is renowned for their tasty cups of Joe and, a wonderland style setting under a canopy of greenery. But inside, how fun. The crew are friendly and the place is absolutely pumping always which is no surprise. Again you may pull up a chair and spend the entire day lost in cups of coffee and the (laidback) hustle of downtown Burleigh Heads.
Where: Burleigh Arcade, Burleigh Heads
The baby of the bunch, Seadog emerged on the local coffee scene just a few short weeks ago and already they’ve made a huge splash (get it). Found in another actual hole in the wall, which was once an ATM in fact, Seadog is serving up organic coffee by Org (out of Peru) and it’s a smooth, mellow drop that can only be found at this one spot on the Gold Coast. It’s the perfect spot for a tasty brew on the go and we highly recommend stopping by.
