Lunch is definitely the most underrated meal. Breakfast is fun because it’s the first food of the day and dinner is good because looking forward to it is the thing that gets you through the day but lunch, kinda more of a necessity isn’t it.
Because we’re about celebrating all the foods, all the time, we wanted to give lunch the recognition it deserves. We’ve put together a list of sweet lunch specials at some of our fave spots. Listed from north to south.
The Sandwich Bros.
The little sambo shop in the heart of Surfers provides many lunchtime goods and these specials will ensure they’re at the top of your list (and this list as it turns out). Get yourself a baguette, side salad and bottle of water for just 10 measly bucks or the daily baguette special for only $7.
Where: Shop 7, 38 Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise
Italian food never tasted so good. Find Vapiano overlooking the ocean at Surfers Paradise and eat yourself silly with $10 pizza and pasta dishes. Good luck not going there every day until you’ve tried everything. Plus, there’s all the people watching opps. What’s not to love.
Where: Soul Boardwalk, Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise
Salts Meats Cheese
Home of all things delicious and cheesy is Salts Meats Cheese in Surfers’ fancy The 4217 precinct. While you should definitely eat one of everything on the menu, lunchtime is the perfect excuse to inhale a $10 pizza. Every weekday from 12 to 3pm they’re yours.
Where: The 4217, Beach Road, Surfers Paradise
Oh this place is a gift from the foodie Gods gang and definitely one of the Coast’s best restaurants (in our humble opinion). Luckily for us (and you) you can feast upon a pizza and beer for just $20 every weekday from 11.30am to 3pm. Go today.
Where: The Oracle, 3 Oracle Blvd, Broadbeach
Feeling lucky? If you’ve ever tried Lucky Bao’s delicious little morsels of goodness you’ll know a two for $16 bao special is as lucky as it gets. Get them while they’re hot (which is Monday to Friday lunchtime). Thank you very much and race ya to the baos.
Where: 90 Markeri Street, Mermaid Waters
Imperial at The Star
How good is Chinese food and in particular that of Imperial at The Star. So good is how good. Internationally trained Exec Chef Song Yao Su combines Mandarin and Cantonese ingredients and creates a little bit of magic to be honest. Eat three courses for just $24.50 per person from Wednesday to Sunday.
Where: The Star Gold Coast, Casino Drive, Broadbeach
The Kitchens is always a fun time and we’re pretty partial to a Teppanyaki time at Saiko. At lunchtime you can grab a stir-fried protein of your choice plus veggies, steamed rice, salad and miso from $13 to $18. So yummy, so healthy, sign us up.
Where: The Kitchens, Robina Town Centre, Robina
Harry’s Steak Bistro
So this is technically not a lunch special but it is the most special of specials if you’re keen on champagne, fries and bustling Burleigh Heads. YES PLEASE. The gist is this. You can get yourself a glass of champagne and unlimited fries for just $4. Yes folks, just $4. Friday’s and Saturday’s from 2pm to 5pm. Get it.
Where: 1744 Gold Coast Hwy, Burleigh Heads
Rainbow Bay SLSC
Down south you can sit overlooking the surf and tuck into $10 lunches from Monday to Friday. It’s the perfect combination really because firstly, views for days and secondly surf club meals are some of the best (and most filling) you can get. Add a frosty cold beer and call it a day.
Where: 2 Snapper Rocks Rd, Coolangatta
