Righto blokes and sheilas it’s that time of year again, the one day (Saturday January 26th) we get to live our best Aussie bogan lives, proudly display our favourite pluggas and eat all the sausage sangas we like.
Yes, Australia Day is upon us and fair dinkum (sorry almost done), it’s going to be a bloody ripper.
Here are some true blue spots to celebrate our great southern land with an ice old schooner and your rowdiest crew (from north to south).
What could be more ‘Strayan than celebrating Australia Day at your favourite bowlo? Hang out by the greens at Club Helensvale’s Outdoor Pop-Up Smoke House and Bar, enjoy delicious Australian Smoke House style food, get involved in the best dressed bogan and thong throwing competitions and there’s FREE barefoot bowls too.

Get into the Aussie spirit at NightQuarter this Australia Day with a ripper night of live music and family fun. Classic Aussie rock cover band Prime Ministers of Australia showcase their greatest hits and there’ll be plenty of fun to entertain the ankle biters with dance parties, egg and spoon races and sack races. Enjoy thong and dunny roll throwing competitions and, of course, cockroach racing.

Forget the shrimp on the Barbie, get to Sharks this Australia Day for a range of family entertainment. Kids can enjoy the party with LOL Crew plus a visit from Mr. Sharky and creepy crawly fans will be treated to a live reptile show on the main stage. Aussie Tucker will be added to Frenzy’s buffet dinner, including lamb chops, sausages, Pavlova, lamingtons, minute steak and roast lamb. Finish the day on the ultimate Aussie high, as tribute band Aussie Pride Band performs live.

Southport Yacht Club
It’ll be an Australia Day to remember at Southport Yacht Club with an Aussie BBQ and Live Entertainment by The Australian Ukulele Band in the Waterfront Restaurant. Take the kids along to enjoy a laidback afternoon in the sunshine. Book your tickets here.

It’s a music extravaganza at Broadwater Parklands this Australia Day. Headlined by Mason Rack Band and supported by an impressive line-up of local talent, this free event kicks off at 4pm and concludes at 8pm with a spectacular fireworks display set to rival New Year’s Eve.

Canungra Valley Vineyards
Cool off at the picturesque 15-acre property complete with historic homestead, lush vines, wine cellar and the bubbling Canungra Creek. They’ll be celebrating all things Aussie with a barbecue and variety of O’Reilly’s handcrafted artisan wines or Burleigh Brewing beers and enjoy some true blue backyard cricket. The kids will be entertained courtesy of the Mountview Alpaca Farm and make sure you pack your swimmers.

Garden Kitchen & Bar
Until January 28th, Garden Kitchen & Bar are celebrating everything that makes Australia great. Go and enjoy the pop-up kitchen, craft beer, live Australian music, entertainment and more. DJ Brooke Evers will be playing from 5pm-8pm on January 26th, and DJ Apollo Jackson will kick-off on Sunday the 27th on The Lawn from 1.30pm-4.30pm.
