Taking children out for a dinner is an experience we know very little about but what we do know a lot about is dinner and particularly dinner on the Gold Coast.
Having heard from other people that there are quite a few things one must consider when taking children out for dinner, we made a list of places you can do exactly that with as little hassle as possible and where there is also a bar.
A relative newbie on the Surfers Paradise dining scene, Steampunk is a huge space in Surfers Paradise filled with all kinds of antique goodies the kiddies (and you) will love looking at. Think industrial machinery, mechanical horses and random interesting gadgets. The menu caters to everyone with burgers, salads, ice-cold beers, epic cocktails, all of the very best things. It’s a real good time.

Pancakes on the Rocks
So obviously pancakes are a good time for everyone and particularly when they’re being pumped out of a specialty restaurant in the heart of Surfers Paradise. Pancakes on the Rocks are ALL about family dining plus there’s pizzas, salads, crepes, pancakes and the now famous beef and pork ribs. Kids will love the creative pancakes, smiley faces included.

Alfresco Italian Restaurant
Italian food has our hearts and especially when it comes fresh out of Alfresco Italian Restaurant. The good people of the Gold Coast (and the world) have been frequenting the family-owned venue for 30 years and that is because the food and the welcoming vibes are some of the best around. Get the kids the best spaghetti bolognese they’ve ever sampled.

Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co.
It’s a burger shack with a difference and one that will satisfy the whole lot of you because fresh, juicy burgers are one of the tastiest treats around. Not only burgers (including kids sized) though – Betty’s make a thing called concretes and it’s a frozen custard situation that we absolutely ADORE and there’s nothing better than a big old burger and an epic dessert afterwards. Love your work Betty.

All of the tasty food options in the one easy to maneuver space. CHOP CHOP is a type of foodie marketplace made up of Asian street food-style venues, all of which are offering tasty, tasty eats. There’s dumplings and desserts, sushi, all your favourite things and picky eaters can choose from all the restaurants. Lots of choices, perfect for the fam.

Hard Rock Café
Who doesn’t love Hard Rock Café – tasty, affordable eats, live music (often) good cocktails and an upbeat, good time vibe always. It’s fun and your entire family will think so too. We’re particularly partial to the burgers and a side of chicken wings never goes astray either. There’s a wide range of US foodie faves available in kiddie sizes too.

Hurricanes Grill & Bar
Famous for their flame grilled steaks and ribs, Hurricane’s Grill & Bar steakhouses are much-loved Australia-wide. Besides delicious food though, the 300 seat space also offers sweeping beach views and a casual, laidback vibe perfect for an early dinner and people watching. The junior menu has all the kids’ favourites but it’s the parent who’ll really love this tasty menu. After all that, kick back and take in the view with a cold beer or a cocktail.

Pancakes In Paradise
It’s affordable family dining at its’ finest, because pancakes, but not only pancakes friends. There are also tasty crepes and dinner dishes like steak, ribs, chicken, fish and salads. All servings are generous and the ultimate sweet pancakes are sensational. If you’re up for the challenge try the all you can eat pancakes for just $9.99 per person!

Surfers Paradise Beach Café
Yes it’s a café but it’s also a restaurant and a laidback, super chill one at that. Overlooking the ocean in Surfers, Surfers Paradise Beach Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the kids will love the pizza, pasta and fish bite options and you will love the tasty seafood, a delightful selection of wine and beer. It’s a delight.
