Craving a warm, nourishing bowl of Pho but don't know where to go? Check out our top Gold Coast Pho spots.

Can Tho Kitchen (image supplied)

Pho is, without a doubt, one of the tastiest of all the soupy dishes and since it’s getting colder, we are craving us some steamy, warming-from-the-inside-out goodness.

Luckily, on the Gold Coast, there are a few spots you can grab yourself some of the very best Pho there is.

From north to south, here they are.

Can Tho Kitchen
This Runaway Bay eatery can go toe-to-toe with some of the more luxurious asian restaurants when it comes to flavour, but as far as cost, its nearly half the price. It’s a pretty cool spot and fills up, so you may wanna make a reservation to get yo Pho on.
Where: 5/465 Oxley Drive, Runaway Bay

New Saigon Restaurant
A local’s favourite, their loyal customers have been raving about the Pho at New Saigon for years. It’s a no frills little space next to the fire station but their food is unforgettable and you should absolutely get there ASAP.
Where: 2798 Gold Coast Highway, Surfers Paradise

Eddy + Wolff
The little Robina sister of Can Tho Kitchen is Eddy + Wolff, tucked away in suburbia offering some of the very best Asian eats around. Of course, their Pho is next-level, the baby dish of Can Tho’s famous one and it’ll warm you all the way to your bones.
Where: 12/217 Ron Penhaligon Way, Robina

Eddy + Wolff

Aprés Surf
Known for their ‘deal of the day’ promotions, on Wednesday’s the guys at Aprés Surf whip up a batch of PHO that’s so good, if you didn’t know any better you would swear they had an old Vietnamese lady in the kitchen. At only $10 a bowl these soup slingers are treating our tummies and our wallets.
Where: 2376 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach

My Saigon Tuckshop
One of Burleigh’s many hidden gems, this dynamite traditional Vietnamese Pho spot off of Taree St. serves up a mean bowl of Pho. Every dish is made to order, which makes it well worth the drive to industrial Burleigh. There are a few tables, but it’s better suited for grab and go. Eat it at home where pants are optional.
Where: 1/45 Taree Street Burleigh Heads

6 slurp-worthy Gold Coast soup spots

We’re pretty spoilt on the Gold Coast with an average of 245 warm and sunny days a year and a laughable 100 days of ‘winter’. However, as soon as those temperatures drop (which it has been recently, boo), you’ll be diving into your doona and pulling on your scarf and UGG boots quick smart.

To make sure you’re as warm as can be, we’ve found the top spots to get souped up this season.

SIFU
Soup might not be the popular choice at your local Chinese restaurant but at SIFU, it’s a must-taste. In particular the Hot and Sour Seafood Soup with Mooloolaba prawns, squid, scallops, shiitake mushrooms and carrots is to die for and will certainly warm those chilly insides.
Where: Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise, Cnr Gold Coast Hwy and First Ave, Surfers Paradise

D’arcy Arms
It’s a well known fact that Irish people are quite fond of soups and stews filled with tons of meat and veggies to keep their energy up for those epic Guinness drinking sessions. As expected the team at D’arcy Arms serve up a mean traditional Irish Stew, served with crusty bread. It’s perfect for those chilly nights to be sure, to be sure.
Where: 2923 Gold Coast Hwy, Surfers Paradise (between Aubrey and Frederick Streets)

The Sandwich Bros
The best soup you’ll find on a budget, The Sandwich Bros are serving up the goods for a measly $8 a bowl with a side of crusty bread. Could there be anything better? They change their flavours up daily and have featured the likes of pumpkin and potato and bacon of late. Run don’t walk.
Where: 38 Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise (the Gold Coast Highway end)

Brio Emporium
While bone broth might not be something you’d usually go for, it’s actually pretty damn good (particularly at Brio Emporium) plus its super healthy and the best immune booster you’ll find this winter. Grab a cup for on the go or stock up your pantry and by a saver pack for the whole family.
Where: 5/2623 Gold Coast Hwy, Broadbeach (opposite Pacific Fair)

The Fish House

Double Barrel Kitchen
For an intriguing twist on the humble soup head to Double Barrel Kitchen. Their version is a Gumbo Cob from the Chefs’ family recipe book. It’s Creole Chicken Broth with Cajun spices, chicken okra, chopped chorizo, veggies and rice served INSIDE a crusty cob loaf. What more could you want this winter?
Where: 64 Karbunya St, Mermaid Waters

The Fish House
If you’re keen to splurge on a spectacular soup, The Fish House is the place to go. A crowd favourite is their super tasty Lemony Fish Soup with John Dory, dill and extra virgin olive oil. Get a group together and go for the banquet because who could ever stop at soup!
Where: 50 Goodwin Terrace, Burleigh Heads

7 local Insta-worthy spots

If your Insta game’s not strong, are you even a Gold Coaster? With a herd of Insta-worthy spots across our stunning city, there’s no excuse for not rocking an A-lister Instagram account.

To make life easier and ensure you’re the envy of all your mates, here are our list of local Insta-worthy spots.

Surfers Paradise Sign
It’s on every Gold Coast tourists’ bucket list and makes the perfect background for a ‘look where I am’ pic. The Surfers Paradise sign is located right where bustling Cavill Ave meets the beach. Try to make it for sunrise (whether you get up, or stay up, we won’t judge!).
Where: The top of Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise

Natural Bridge
Springbrook National Park offers you a couple of great Insta pic locations, the most beautiful and unique being the Natural Bridge rock arch.  When you get the right angle and the light hits the water running through the cave, it’s a guaranteed winner! So make sure your battery is fully charged and get ready for a rainforest adventure (watch out for the cave dwelling bats!).
Where: Springbrook National Park, Numinbah Road

Miami Hill
It’s a fitness junkie’s kryptonite but the top of the hill also gives you great views of Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta. You may snap some great pics during the day, but we urge you to make the effort and go during sunrise or sunset – it’s mind blowing and no filter necessary.
Where: The southern end of Miami

Burleigh Hill
It’s safe to say that we’ve all snapped shots on Burleigh Hill at some point. A sweet location with balmy breezes and picture-perfect views of Surfers Paradise’ skyline. If you’re lucky enough, you might even spy a whale breaching!
Where: Goodwin Terrace, Burleigh Heads

Tallebudgera Creek
If taken from the right angle, a picture at Talle Creek can easily be mistaken for a beach in Thailand or the Caribbean (but it’s on the Coast and that’s even better). The calm waters and palm trees are nothing short of #paradise!
Where: Awoonga Avenue, Burleigh Heads (northside) and Murlong Crescent, Palm Beach (southside)

Elephant Rock
There is not just one but two huge rocks at Currumbin Beach and they’re the perfect natural objects for your next Instagram pic! Who doesn’t love a great scenic shot of the deep blue sea? Hot tip: Visit during Swell Sculpture Festival (held in September) and take pictures of the abstract outdoor sculpture gallery against the ocean.
Where: Currumbin Beach, Currumbin

Waterfalls
With so many waterfalls and rock pools to choose from, it’s not easy to decide which ones to visit. You should probably just go see them all, but we’ve created a list of our faves right here.
Where: Various locations

Mei Wei Dumplings

Reminiscent of hawker-style street food, Mei Wei Dumplings brings a unique flavour to Jupiters Casino.

The fit out is raw and industrial with Asian-inspired artwork gracing the interior and giving the restaurant, combined with the fact that you can see the chefs preparing the dishes, an entirely authentic feel.

The array of menu options certainly live up to their name (Mei Wei translates to delicious) and there are flavours to suit every palette.

Entrée options include (to name a few) Pot Sticker Pork and Steamed Dumplings and the choice of a perfectly steeped Jasmine tea or an alcoholic beverage.

Mains range from Prawn and Pork Wonton Soup, BBQ Pork Buns (a standout), Lo Mein, fried rice and an array of BBQ and roasted meats.

The Soya Chicken is tender and flavour-filled and Sautéed Green Beans a fresh and crunchy accompaniment.

There are several flavours of refreshingly fruity Bubble Tea, perfect for balmy summer nights. .

To finish up there are Egg Tarts. There are no words for the deliciousness that was warm custard and flakey, melt-in-your-mouth pastry.

Those little guys, along with the rest of the menu, are available to take away in vast quantities.

Run don’t walk.

When visiting Jupiters, whether you’re in need of a street-food style feast or a late night snack, give Mei Wei Dumplings a try for a quick, affordable dinner, it’ll be sure to tickle your taste buds too.

Hours: Sunday to Thursday 11am to 10pm and Friday and Saturday 11am to 12am.

Where: The Star Gold Coast, 1 Casino Drive, Broadbeach (where Spinners used to be found).
