4 epic Gold Coast Film Festival events

Floating Cinema
Burleigh Brewing Co.

The biggest party the Gold Coast has ever seen is done and dusted, but that doesn’t mean the fun is over for those of us still here. No sir, we’re right back into it with the start of the Gold Coast Film Festival today!

Not only are there plenty of epic new films being screened throughout the festival, there are old favourites and some much-loved annual events to keep us entertained.

Here are four things you should certainly get involved in to keep those good times rolling.

Floating Cinema
Anything that floats on water is okay by us and particularly when there’s entertainment thrown in. Obviously the Floating Cinema was a huge hit last year and it’s back again this time bringing everyone’s favourite teen comedy, American Pie, to the people. On Thursday April 26th, jump aboard the Wyndham Cruises boat for a night of bulk laughs and an open air screening that’ll no doubt be a night to remember. Tickets are $19.99 here.
Where: Leaves from 58 Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise

Did you know SIPFest stands for Short Films in Paradise Festival? Clever ay. So SIPFest is the annual showcase of the best short films from across Australia and we’re definitely here for that. Long films are such a bore. The Festival takes place right on the sand in Surfers and each film is just 10 measly minutes so you’ll no doubt be enthralled by the fast moving stories. As a watcher of said masterpieces, you’re entitled to sling your opinion into the ring for the People’s Choice Award. What’s not to love. Catch it on Sunday April 22nd from 7pm.
Where: Beach Marquee, Surfers Paradise Beachfront

Movie & Music Trivia Night
People who don’t suck at trivia are very impressive people. Where’d you learn all those random facts hey? How do you manage to keep them in your brain when there’s food and Bachelor in Paradise and weekend plans to think about? Sorcery. ANYWAY. Whether you suck or not, you should grab two to six friends (probably six) and head to QT Gold Coast on Tuesday, April 24th. There’ll be free finger food, a cash bar and plenty of sweet prizes. It’s $14 entry for zee team.
Where: QT Gold Coast, 7 Staghorn Ave, Surfers Paradise

Brewery Film
What’s the first rule of Fight Club? Drink beer while watching Fight Club! Or something like that. Fun fact: you can do exactly that at Burleigh Brewing Co. on Saturday April 28th. Sit back, relax and indulge in a few frothies under the stars at the new outdoor cinema. Should be a good time gang.
