Get down to Currumbin beach for the 2016 Swell Sculpture Festival and wander amongst this magnificent outdoor gallery. 16. Local Markets
Take the family and stroll along one of the many local markets on the Coast. There is nothing you can’t find, from fresh produce, fashion, homewares, bric a brac, souvenirs, arts and crafts and just about everything else.
Our top three favourite markets are Surfers Paradise Beach Front Markets (Wednesday, Friday & Sunday nights, 4pm-9pm), The Village Markets Burleigh Heads (1st & 3rd Sunday, 8am-1pm) and Carrara Markets (every Saturday & Sunday, 7am-4pm).
17. Charis Seafood Pelican feeding
Every day at 1:30 pm countless Pelicans gather at Charis Seafood hopeful to snag a bite of the fish scraps thrown out to them. It’s truly phenomenal and should be on your to-do list these school holidays.
The pelicans have grown so accustom to the tourists they aren’t bothered by the mass amounts of people taking selfies with them! You can literally walk right through the flock without disturbing them. Turns out we are more scared of them than they are of us! Don’t forget to grab some of the best fish and chips on the Coast afterwards.
