7 places to feed your hot cross bun addiction!

Come and get em! It’s Easter, aka hot cross bun season! Here’s where you can get yours!

Paddock Bakery

Sure it’s got irresistible folky charm, but its also got a wood-fired oven thats cranking out heaps of hot cross buns. Coming straight from the fire and headed to your belly; Get em while they are hot because these bad boys are only sticking around until Easter!

  • 20 Hibiscus Haven, Miami

Bam Bam Bakehouse

If Miami just isn't your scene, one neighbourhood up is Paddock’s sister restaurant, Bam Bam Bakehouse in Mermaid. Slightly more chic than Paddock but with the same great wood-fired sour dough delight. A personal favourite of mine, better beat me there because I’ll be filling up. You’ll be lucky to get one after I roll though. My love affair with hot cross buns and Bam Bam knows no end!

  • 2519 - 2521 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach

The 4217, how are you always hitting the nail on the head? I went there early, but their chefs are earlier! Only a thin sheet of glass separates me from steamy hot cross buns. Glazed and ready to go, pick one up before they are gone until next year!

  • 10 Beach Road, Surfers Paradise

Grab and go not your style? No biggie, the same great BKRY hot cross buns are sold two shops down at Paradox Coffee Roasters. Grab a coffee and a hot cross bun for 5 bucks, sit back and enjoy. Hell, maybe even grab two, it is a holiday after all!

Burleigh Baker

If the allure of James Street isn't enough to get you to Burleigh on a holiday weekend, Burleigh Baker most certainly is. Treat yourself and spoil your family with some of baker, Geoff’s signature hot cross buns. Just imagine, the butter melting as you spread it on the steamy bun, the the raisins popping between your teeth, the cinnamon smell swirling in your nostrils. Sounds like a good Easter morning to me!

  • Shop 13, 50 James Street, Burleigh Heads

The Pastry Emporium

Legend has it they make the most beautiful desserts on the coast. One look at The Pastry Emporium’s hot cross buns and you’ll be hooked for life! I mean, that’s just a legend, TRY IF YOU DARE! Muah hahahaha!
But seriously, speaking from experience, I have to say I would sell my thumb for a never ending supply. They are that good!

  • Shop 4, Riviera Plaza, Campbell Street, Bundall

Providore Marina Mariage

Hot cross buns and yachts. Welcome to the good life. Where’s Yeezy?!
Providore might be located in the middle of the Gold Coast’s Millionaire’s docks, Marina Marriage, but at $2.50 a pop you don't need to be a millionaire to eat like one!

Let’s move on to CHOCOLATE!

What’s with the confusion around Easter? Bunnies laying/hiding chocolate eggs??! I don't remember that on any David Attenborough shows. Seems odd.

To eliminate more confusion, we are keeping it simple. Here are TWO awesome places to get your Easter chocolates. (Dont worry, there are locations all across the coast. I know you don't want to drive too far!)
Go ahead, feed the glutton! (it’s a holiday, the calories don't count!)

Max Brenner

I wonder if Max Brenner and Willy Wonka are cousins. They both come up with the most delicious and original ideas!  Anyway, the outstanding variety of tasty chocolate treats has long been a Gold Coast favourite, but this Easter they have gotten creative and come up with The Not Cross Bun; a warm chocolate chip spiced bun stuffed with vanilla ice cream served with a pot of pure melted chocolate and the Max’s Egg-Clairs which are two white chocolate covered eclairs filled with delicious vanilla crème nestled in milk chocolate ganache and sprinkled with caramelised pecans. Don't forget the chocolate eater eggs too! Let’s go ahead and put this in the draw for best Easter ever!

San Churro

Our Spaniard chocolate friends at San Churro have been sharing their incredibly smooth chocolate with us for years now and we love it! Have you tried a churro dipped in hot chocolate?! It’s seriously amazing! If you are the Easter chocolate hunt, San Churro has plenty of goodies all wrapped up and ready to go. Looking for a floppy eared chocolate Easter bunny? They’ve got it. Need a couple Easter eggs? They’ve got it. How about a giant chocolate egg filled with more chocolate? You guessed it, they’ve got that too! Basically they’ve got you covered!

Hold on, here’s one more! Cucina Vivo is making a cocktail inside an Easter egg.

Check out the photo below. It looks insane!! I know where I’ll be this Easter…
