On Wednesday 5th July, Little Truffle is toasting to the Australian truffle season with an intimate wine dinner series, featuring an amazingly tasty (and truffley) degustation menu alongside matching wines from one of the finest wine estates in the world - Torbeck Vintners in the Barossa Valley.
From June to September, Western Australia brings in truffle season, an emerging industry that has grown quite a bit over the past five years, becoming the second-largest producer of the black truffle behind Europe. And even though they are considered the diamonds of cookery, a true delicacy with very distinct earthy flavours and pungent fragrance, selling at an average price of $1,000 per pound, truffles surely are an acquired taste.
Gold Coast, it's time to change your perception of this often misunderstood delicacy. And thanks to Daniel Ridgeway, owner and head chef at Little Truffle and the BiN family, you don't have to travel far to sample some of the best and freshest black truffle Australia has to offer. What to expect? Only the best!
The decadent five course menu showcases in a simple yet intriguing way how delicious (and not over-powering) truffle can be when cooked to perfection. All dishes will be accompanied by perfectly matched Torbreck wines such as a 2004 Woodcutters Semillon.
This intimate wine dinner series will give you an exclusive inside into the world of truffle. Greg McGill from Torbreck Wine’s as well as Chef Daniel Ridgeway will be in attendance at this special event and with only 40 seats available, better get in quick.
When: Wednesday 5th July at 7pm
Where: Little Truffle, 2444 Gold Coast Hwy, Mermaid Beach
Cost: $160 pp.
