Winter has arrived on the Gold Coast,  but thankfully we are still blessed with beautiful, sunny days (take that southern states!). So enjoy your Sunday arvo with mates playing barefoot bowls.

No white uniform required. The club will sort you out with a beer in one hand and ball in the other. Reacquaint yourself with the Gold Coast's best outdoor beer gardens, better known as our top five lawn bowling clubs:

1. Tugun Bowls Club

Located on Kaleena Street is Tugun Bowls and Community Club, a club run by bowlers for bowlers (or ones that give it a go anyways) with superb greens and amenities. Enjoy a drink from the well-stocked bar, put a couple of dollars through the pokies or have a meal in the outstanding Ka-Leenas Restaurant. Barefoot Bowls Sunday kicks off at 1pm every Sunday with live entertainment and free entry every last Sunday of the month, grab a Sunday roast for under $10, too!

2. Burleigh Heads Bowls Club

Burleigh Heads Bowls Club is THE place to meet and mingle. Conveniently located in the hipster heartland of Burleigh Heads this club offers barefoot bowls between 12pm – 5pm on Sunday afternoon’s for only $5 per person, live entertainment included. Due to its insane popularity there are two sessions. The first session is 12pm – 2.30pm and the second at 2.30pm – 5pm, make sure you book ! If you’ve never played barefoot bowls, don’t worry, they even have coaches to help get you started.
Bring flat shoes or thongs, they're hipsters not hippies!

3. Mermaid Beach Bowls Club

Centered in the middle of the Goldy, Mermaid Beach Bowls Club offers you three of the best greens on the Gold Coast, it's the perfect spot to host your ‘Barefoot Bowls Sunday’! Leave your heels at home and get ready to kick off those pluggas, it’s time to hit Mermaid Bowls’ pristine greens with nothing but your bare feet and a beer. And the best thing about it? It’s free from 12pm till 6pm every Sunday! And then après bowls go to Après Surf to continue your Sundays Sess across the road.

4. Broadbeach Bowls Club

Broadbeach Bowls Club (the official home of the Lawn Bowls in the GC 2018 Comm Games) is located just metres from the beach and offers live entertainment, great promotions and, of course, barefoot bowls.
Every Sunday from 9am - 9pm (the longest barefoot sess on the Coast!) you and your friends can enjoy two hours of fun for only $7 per person . Choose between one of four championship greens and let the games begin! Feeling peckish? No problem, Broadbeach Bowls Club's Bistro serves up some pretty tasty treats.

5. Southport Bowls Club

Southport Bowls Club is the oldest bowls club on the Coast and is located just 200m south of Australia Fair. Barefoot bowls is available every Sunday from 10am for only $5 per person, including all equipment and coaching. 
If you’re hungry Southport Bowls Club has you covered with platters, sausage sizzles, BBQ’s or buffets available during or after bowls.
What really makes this club special is the BYO picnic. Grill your own meat and relax in the outdoor area under shades with two BBQ’s for no charge – but these are hotly contested, so you need to book!
