What is a Maven you ask?
A Maven is a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others. The word maven comes from Hebrew, meaning "one who understands", based on an accumulation of knowledge.

Wine Whisky and Tapas EXPERTS? With a name like that, we had to check it out!

Nestled among some of the Gold Coast’s favourite restaurants, The Maven Bar in Nobbys’ Beach is bound to be a new hotspot and make its mark on our little town. 

As you walk in you are immediately enamored by Sexy 50’s swing house music on the radio, savoury smells, dusky mood lighting and a parametric wall designed by Studio Workshop; made entirely of 2,300 wine bottles that shine like diamonds when the light hits them. The cozy yet modern and sleek space gives off a city feel that is a bit hard to come by on the Gold Coast. 

We did a rather tasty exploration of the menu sampling the Sicilian Olives stuffed with feta, panko crumbed and deep fried (delish- goes without saying!), char grilled lamb cutlets served with yoghurt sauce, prawn lollipops, sticky pork ribs, warm Camembert, garlic and rosemary ciabatta loaf, and a charcuterie platter beautiful enough to serve to the Queen! (Hungry yet?)

It’s the defiantly a menu suited for the Gold Coasters who have a taste for the finer things in life. Bite after bite we fell more deeply in love with The Maven Bar. 

Katherine Galvin from Social Society who was in charge of the cocktail menu told us she spent countless hours researching the hottest cocktails in New York City and has complied them into one incredible cocktail list.

Cool down with the Inside Gold Coast favourite the Balboa Bitter, gin, Campari, passion fruit syrup, lemon & grapefruit juices and mint make up one of the tastiest cocktails we’ve had in a long time! 

The list goes on and on. Have you ever tired Ink Gin? This “purple” gin and tonic glows haunting lavender and is served stiff and with a rosemary sprig. 

Next summer get ready for their icy pop creation, The Maveness; fresh fruit frozen in a popsicle and plopped into a generous helping of prosecco. Not only does it taste delicious, but also it’s going to look awesome on your Instagram! #Maveness #cocktailporn

And we mustn't forget the wine and whiskey. There are heaps of decadent bottles of wine on the menu available by the glass or bottle, and a little bird told us that owner Guy Cooper is quite the whiskey connoisseur and will stocking the bar with some of the most note worthy whiskeys around. (We’ll take that neat, please)

With the long weekend just around the corner, go ahead and treat yourself to a big night at The Maven Bar. Head there after 5pm, or midday to late on Sundays!
