Things are getting wild in Palm Beach.
Astro turf, red, terracotta bricks, hanging pot plants and timber floors… if it was outside, the team at Wildernis have brought it in.
A design and construct project, owners Josh Bailey and Andy Canfield put their primitive chippy skills to good use and in turn, have created an impressive geometric escape with beer garden qualities. Wherever your eyes roam, the Wildernis layout is sure to keep your gaze steady.
The venue's concept is “forever changing”, which takes play in the name Wildernis, the fit out and menu. As you make your way through the cleverly crafted wrought iron gates you can’t help but move your gaze upwards to the beehive ceiling, accentuated by upside-down pot plants and bright greenery. Rich, red terracotta bricks frame the bar, broken up by funky white tiles, hanging lights, exposed beams and an impressive offering of tap beers that line the back wall of the bar.
The menu is just as diverse as the fit out; breakfast, lunch, tapas for dinner, cocktails and smoothies. For something mystical, the Garden Breakfast – brocolini, spinach, asparagus, quinoa, kale, avocado, eggs and beetroot dust. For lunch why not try the Bangalow Pork Belly – served with thyme roasted apples, celeriac remoulade and a sticky glaze. For dinner choose from the lush tapas menu; Grilled Haloumi Crostini, Karaagee Chicken or the Wildernis Charcuterie Board.
So far the most popular choices on the lunch menu have been the burgers; either a Grass Fed Beef Burger, caramalised onion, swiss cheese, pickles, cos, tomato, dijon aioli and smokey bbq sauce or the Grilled Chicken Burger, avocado salsa, cilantro, haloumi, rocket and jalapeno aioli. It is also becoming a favourite for arvo drinks, finish work, pull up a stool and enjoy the sea breeze! Or if you're just after a pick me up, they also have their own little coffee stop and are happily waiting to provide your caffeine fix.
Wildernis is fast becoming a Palm Beach go-to. Upstairs dining is set to open in January next year, we can’t wait to see how wild they get with the design for this space! If you want a party that’s set to impress, look no further, the restaurant is also available for private hire.
