To put it bluntly, you haven’t lived until you’ve tasted a Randy Wallhole bagel. There are eight flavours to choose from which means you can eat one every day of the week (and two on Sundays). Go for the Pulled Bas first up, it’s got Smokey BBQ pulled beef, peri mayo and apple slaw. Wash it down with some of the best coffee on the Coast and be on your merry way.

But yes, tonight. It’s Southport’s epic little boutique craft beer bar with the dark divey vibes we Gold Coasters have come to know and love. Head in on a Wednesday for trivia with the crew or sway from side to side to live music from Friday to Sunday. The crew is friendly, the drinks list is long and there’s a GLink station right out the front so no one has to drive. Best.

Whether you’re four or 40, there’s tons of fun to be had at Broadwater Parklands. For starters, you can sit and stare out at the yachts you’ll never set foot on. Then, there’s the bouncy pillow (maybe don’t go on there without a child), a kiddies train, a water playground and weekly events from theatre shows to foodie markets. See, fun.

Right on the waters edge, Café Catalina is a pooch lovers paradise serving up the tastiest of modern Aussie eats. On a Sunday, kick back on a beanbag with a cocktail in hand and listen to some live local tunes while gazing lovingly at the setting sun. Or at your date, whatever. Chow down on the Spaghettini with grilled local prawns, chilli, garlic, capers and lemon, too good.

Gold Coast Aquatic Centre
Southport’s new centre of swimming is something for all of us to be proud of. It’s as pretty as a collection of swimming pools can be and, as the home of all the Commonwealth Games water activities, it’s world class. The architecture is sleek and there’s a training room featuring pits filled with foam for the divers to practice in. You aren’t allowed in there, but that’s a fun thing to know right?

Oh hey most delicious Japanese food at very reasonable prices. A Coast-wide fave, JFX has been dishing up the goods for quite awhile now. From sashimi and salads to Wagyu beef tasting plates and truly great gyoza, they really do cover all then bases and the some. The Stone Pot Rice Bowls come highly recommended or, if you’re particularly peckish, go the BBQ Buffet. All the good things.

Filled with absolutely beautiful Aboriginal fine art, the intricacy of the pieces at Boomerang Art is mind-blowing. The artists are from a community called Utopia, 300 km north of Alice Springs who rely on commercial galleries for support. Local couple Werner and Elena Obermeier opened the gallery in 1996 and have since created close relationships with the people of Utopia. We guarantee you’ll be mesmerised from the moment you set foot inside.
